I chose downtown and indoors. I think it would be so cool to do something with all the big buildings around. Maybe even down in Batty Park, Chinatown or Little Italy?
Also, indoors at a museum would be really cool as well. Have fun with it!
I voted for Brooklyn. My FSIL lives there and is an amateur (and really great) photographer, and she takes some of the coolest pics around their neighborhood.
My vote is for Brooklyn! Battery park, cobblestone roads, I love it! Brooklyn just has so much more character and originality than your typical Central Park setting. I am sure they will be beautiful no matter where you choose. You cannot go wrong with any of your proposed settings!
I picked Central Park in Autumn...considering you are having a Spring Wedding near the park the Autumn colors will be different than your Spring Wedding pics. And the colors of Autumn are beautiful. Good luck!
I vote Coney Island. You have the beach, a boardwalk, and a carnival setting. I'm hoping to do a trash the dress shoot there. it's just so versatile!
Thanks everyone, for all your input and votes! It seems to be split between downtown/Brooklyn and autumn in Central Park! Hmm, which to choose. Any other voters? It seems like wedding planning turns every little deicision into a big one!
I think the contrast of having your e-pics in an urban area vs your wedding pics in the park would be great!
Thanks for voting, Bees! Looks like Downtown/Brooklyn seems to be in the lead! I also recently was at the Highline which is totally awesome, and a fellow Bee had her e-photos there as well and in the surrounding Meatpacking district. So now I'm wondering if I should do that? So many choices!!
I vote for Downtown/Brooklyn because it's a little edgier. And other.
Everyone does Central Park and you'll be there on your wedding day already! Do something different. Perhaps a place that has more meaning for you & FI? Recreate your first date? Or where he asked you out, etc?
And oh go for FAll since your wedding is summer. I think the contrast will make for great images to save.
We are doing a fall shoot where we will "recreate" our first date! =) We're getting married in the summer so I wanted a sharp contrast in colors to the summer so fall was the obvious choice. =)
I voted for fall in Central Park! My friend took hers there and they came out stunning!
I'd choose someplace that has a special meaning to the couple. How about the place that reminds you most of each other? Or where you first met, your first date or something of that sort?
i plan on doing mine in brooklyn - there are so many beautiful options by the water, and in the industrial areas!! highline is great too though...
I voted for the 2 places I would like to have taken mine - Central Park & The West Village :)
I vote for Brooklyn just because that's where I'm from and you can't go wrong
Definitely downtown or Brooklyn. If you are lucky enough to take engagement portraits in NYC then take advantage of the amazing scenery.
Hi Bees!
Just wanted to give you an update - FH and I will be having our engagement shoot in..........
DOWTOWN/BROOKLYN!
Our shoot will be on October 15th, and my photographer shoots there all the time - in fact, she said it was one of her favorite places to shoot! I'm super excited!
Thanks for all your help and input!
Yay! Congrats! I just happened upon this thread and JUST voted for Downtown/Brooklyn! Hehe....

I'm totally undecided on the location/season for our engagement shoot! We're in NYC, so we have plenty of options, too many perhaps, lol. Our ceremony/reception location is across from Central Park, and we'll be taking pre-ceremony pictures there. So I'm not sure if we have our engagement shoot there as well it might be redundant? It's so pretty though.
Please help me decide!!!
