So this is my orgininal menu:
Chicken Mini Skewers
With your choice of hickory barbeque sauce,
spicy soy or honey mustard sauce
Imported Cheese Tray with fresh fruit
served with baguettes and crackers
Prawns with Cocktail Sauce
vegan vegetable tortellini in tomato sauce
Prosciutto-lined Leg of Lamb
Rolled with Pesto Genovese and Ricotta (this can be made w/o the pesto if necessary)
Individually Baked in Puff Pastry with Duxelles
Served with a Madeira Sauce
Oven Roasted Baby Red Potatoes with
Butter, Fresh Herbs and Parsley
Niçoise Platter Salad
Seasonal Vegetables, Cheese and Olives
Tossed Green Salad with
Condiments and Your Choice of Two Dressings
Fresh Baked Focaccia Bread and Butter
Yummy right? However, my FMIL says that many people don’t like lamb and we should serve a beef dish instead. What do all of you think? Keep in mind that this is dinner and will be served around 7 pm on a summer night

I think she makes a good point. I personally don’t care for lamb but would be fine with the Chicken Wellington.

@Mrs.babycat: I think you’re fine with the lamb. I don’t eat lamb myself, but I would be happy with either the chicken or vegan option. If you did have the choice of filet of beef, I would probably chose that. I just like my animals to grow up before I eat them.

Neither DH or I would eat the lamb. I would go with the chicken and DH would go with the beef, otherwise we would both get chicken.

Try as I might, I just can’t get into lamb, but I’d be perfectly pleased with the chicken or the tortellini option. I know lots of people who enjoy lamb, but I do suspect your FMIL is right that more people like beef.

I don’t like lamb either so I would choose the chicken. If you’re really set on the lamb I think that’s fine because many, many people like chicken.
