Hi @megan1016:

Etiquette Snob here… lol

Times have changed a lot on this front… Vow Renewals can be virtually the same as a Wedding now with just a few tweeks.  NO Showers, NO Bachelorette Parties, NO Calling it a Wedding.

Other than that, you can do pretty much whatever you please, including a WHITE Dress if you didn’t do one the first time… or if you did one previously, then you can wear the same one as you did for the Wedding (totally acceptable) or one perhaps a little more reserved than a BIG White Pouffy one.

As for telling folks, you can issue Invites just like you’d do for a Wedding… just have the wording reflect that is a Vow Renewal and not a Wedding Ceremony.

(You can’t call it a Wedding, cause you are already married)

Hope this helps,

Great advice, as always, from TTR. If you really want a blue dress, how about a bridesmaid dress?

Lovekiss and This Time Round make good suggestions. You can wear white if you want!

I am wearing a white bridal gown to my vow renewal so that my mother can see me in one.

Bridesmaids dresses can easily be found in blue.

Your event is strictly referred to as a vow renewal, not a wedding.

I think a blue wedding dress is a fantastic idea for your vow renewal! We have some beautiful blue wedding dresses in the beach destination wedding dress section of our Pinterest boards.  It looks like there  is a company in Italy that makes several really pretty blue ones. I am not sure where you can find them here in the US.
