What do you do with your vows during the ceremony.
My fiance and I are keeping our vows a surprise for each other til the ceremony and i was thinking we should print them on nice small pieces of paper if we need to look at them while we are saying our vows.
Have you ever done this? if so, does the Maid/Matron of Honor or Bridesmaid or Best Man hold them or even the person marrying you?
or do you just memorise your vows?

@Missymalumba: Depends on what type of Wedding you are having… non-religious probably not an issue… BUT if it is a religious ceremony you should be aware that some Churchs or Officants don’t allow for Custom-made Vows … they just use the standard, “Repeat After Me” version…
So you’ll want to check that out with your Officiant before hand.
Otherwise you can certainly write them out… and make arrangements to have the Officiant hold onto them until you need them. OR you can memorize them… but be aware that you still might want the Officiant to have a copy, because if you get swept up in the moment emotionally, there is a good chance your brain will go to mush, and you won’t recall them at all.
Hope this helps,

Thanks so much!
We have checked and we can do our own vows 🙂

you could give a copy to your maid of honour and he could give a copy to his best man or you could give the vows together to the officiant 🙂

My Maid/Matron of Honor held mine, along with my husband’s ring. I know the best man had my ring; he probably had a copy of the vows too but I don’t remember.

i’m giving them to my officiant (at the rehearsal) and the officiant will hand them to us.
