Ooh, I JUST watched that show too and thought the exact same thing! I thought it was in Toronto because they mentioned the city, so I got all excited and Googled to no avail, and then realized they said they’d just gotten some dresses from here. Noooo, don’t take away our cheap dresses! Anyway… sorry… I am keen to hear about others’ experiences there also.

Though I didn’t end up buying my dress at Vows, I did have a good experience is there. There are racks and racks of sample dresses and the folks that work there are nice and helpful.

The one downside is if you’re not a “sample size” girl. I’m a street size 12 and a bridal 14/16, so that really narrowed down my options there. There were tons of high end designer gowns in sizes 8 or 10, but the majority of the size 12+ gowns at Vows were from their in-house designer Liv Harris. I did try on some lovely Liv Harris dresses, but without being able to compare her prices elsewhere, it’s hard to tell just how good a deal you’re getting (as opposed to other name brand designers).

I agree… if you’re not sample size its not worth it, even though the reviews say so.  (my wedding dress was a 16, I’m a 12/14 street size). I ended up bying mine at Manhattan Bridals in Dedham (ask for PAtty the owner, no one else).

Whoops, sorry bees, just saw this now.

@mu_t:  Yeah, it wasn’t a highlight of the gown-shopping experience. It’s not a bad store in the least, it just hits a very small selection of women. If you can find a gown where the size works and it’s in good shape, you can probably get a great deal!

@H2MrsDj:  I got my gown at Manhattan, and yes, Patty is the ONLY person to work with. Unfortunately I had a really negative experience after buying the gown because the bag they put the gown in smelled (and transferred the odor to my gown) and they refused to accomodate me for fittings. I ended up with a local seamstress who was *awesome* but I’m still happy I got the gown I did. Patty is the one who pulled it, in fact, and she was very helpful in the process.
