I don’t even know where to begin….
http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/so-its-offically-out-of-my-hands – this was my post this summer….
Up until 2 weeks ago I knew nothing, but he finally my BF had to spill the beans – because he was afraid I would be upset if he didn’t propose at Christmas.
The stone we had picked out together this summer, got lost in transit on its way to the jeweler (because of HURRICANE SANDY).
The jeweler has already crafted the shank of the ring and needs a stone to finish the setting.
But our stone is lost, the postal service declared it lost two weeks ago (which is why BF finally spilled his beans).
We have to wait for the insurance claim on the lost parcel goes through to buy an new stone… but the jeweler won’t wait.
The setting is so delicate that I can’t use a replacement CZ, because it will affect the structural integrity of the ring to remove the CZ to have it replaced one day.
Oh did I mention the setting, which is half crafted, is half paid for…
We are in such a bind I don’t know how all this is going to play out.
Oh and I thought “let’s get an Amora Moissanite”… but they everyone is SOLD OUT.
So waiting has become a lot more difficult.

@-crayola-: so sorry that’s totally frustrating. it will get resolved eventually. have you looked on diamondbistro.com for loose moissy stones? They usually have tons on there.

I’m so sorry to hear this 🙁 Can you do an asha or is your setting too delicate for that?

THe jeweler knows that it got lost in the mail due to Sandy, but still won’t be any more understanding about the situation? What do you mean, they won’t wait?

@EffieTrinket: I was thinking the same thing. It’s not like ya’ll didn’t buy the stone, it just got lost in the storm on it’s way there. If anything, I’d tell the jeweller that either they can wait or give me my money back. It’s not like the ring getting lost was your fault.

@-crayola-: Ugh that’s really crappy but on the bright side you know that the proposal is coming. At least you’re not in the “does he want to marry me?” boat.
I really hope you can get this sorted out soon, ugh!!

@Tarheelgurl: +1 I don’t understand why your jeweller won’t wait especially since the ring is half paid for.
@-crayola-: what? I don’t understand this… you’ve paid for half. Its not like you picked up the ring nad haven’t paid. It’s sitting in their workshop, half done. What are they going to do with it anyways? Are they demanding the remaining payment? If so – they shouldnt get it until you have the ring. The complete ring.
Did you order the stone online, independent of the store that is making your ring? If not, they should have a heck of a lot more at stake since the stone was lost.
And above all, I’m sorry that you haven’t gotten your ring. Bf sounds like a great guy, and I hope you two get the stone and ring of your dreams soon.
