Not that I know of.  I normally do just a check for a wedding gift.

You give a gift or a check/cash. Or you can give both. Its up to you, how close you are to the couple getting married, how much you can afford.

I don’t think so.  I often give a physical gift at a shower, and a cheque at the actual wedding, but not usually both, and certainly not a requirement.

I give a gift at the shower off the registry and a check at the wedding.

At the weddings i’ve been to, i’ve been expected to give both a gift as well as a check.

We usually give either a cheque or a gift. I usually spend about $50-$75

@peachacid:

You don’t have to.  I’ve given as little as $25 as a wedding gift when I was single and not working much.  I usually give around a $50 now, plus maybe a $25 gift if I’m attending a shower too.  I personally think that’s plenty for a gift.  I wouldn’t spend $200 on a wedding gift for anyone.  People might think that’s cheap but I don’t really care lol.

No way. Boxed gifts at the shower, check or cash at the wedding. At least around here thats how things are done.

And I spend anywhere from $60-$150 on boxed gifts depending on the relationship.  And usually give at least $150 in cash at the wedding.

Why is the hotel $300?! Can’t you find a cheaper hotel.

The last wedding I went to the bride and groom had a room block at a hotel and it was $99 for the night,  and was a 4 mile drive to the reception. I looked up the area near the reception and found a motel (not fancy but its a bed for the night and shower in the morning) for $79 dollars and was only a 2 mile drive to the reception.
