Congrats! I'm sorry to hear about your father's health problems, but I am so happy for you and your engagement! Your ring is beautiful :)
Congratulations!!!
And I am happy your fathers seems to be in remission.
Thank you everyone for your congrats!
@ CorgiTales! I see you're wedding is in Columbus, OH? Mine will be too! My fiancé and I live in Atlanta right now, but we are going to check out venues at the end of the month. I don't know how far along in your planning you are, but let me know if you have any suggestions (venue, vendors, etc.).
@ noritake22 thank you for your kind words. he's unfortunately not really in remission...his liver numbers already indicate something is wrong. he had surgery to remove the cancer, but it was already in his lymph nodes, and in that case, even with surgery, the cancer comes back around 95% of the time, many times within months. they don't really seem to use the word "remission" with pancreatic cancer sadly. he's doing cycles of chemo right now though to hopefully kill any cells they didn't get in the surgery, but chemo isn't very effective with pancreatic cancer. it just sucks. i just hope my dad can be in the 5% that somehow beats it. at least i can have a little joy with getting married and knowing that most likely my dad will be at my wedding though.
congratulations! and yay for being able to have your dad at your wedding. i recently lost mine and i wish i could have had the chance you have with your dad. my very best to you and your family. happy planning!
Congrats! but even more so I'm happy you get to share at least the excitement of the engagement with your father and he can see how happy you are.
Congrats on your engagement! I'm glad that your Dad will be able to share your big day with you!
Congratulations! As wonderful as this all is, I'm sure it is still bittersweet waiting and hoping for your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you - I hope he walks you down the aisle at your September wedding!
Congratulations!!!! And I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'll send a little prayer that he'll be able to walk down the aisle with you at your wedding in September!

thanks again everyone for your thoughts and prayers (and your congratulations!). you bees are so supportive! while it's definitely bittersweet still having to deal with my father's illness, planning a wedding and knowing that he'll hopefully get to see me marry my perfect guy makes me so much happier.
I am so happy to hear that you can move forward. I think it is great that you plan on having a ceremony possibly earlier so you can have your dad there if his health goes down hill sooner. I bet you dad is happy that he will be able to see his daughter get married!
I JUST commented on your last post. I'm so excited for you and I really hope your dad can beat this! Stranger things have happened...My mom had a brain aneurysm and had a 10% chance of survival and she is doing great. My dad had colon cancer but it spread all over in a month(stage 4) and he died within a month even though they said he had 6 months at least...

So for those of you who may not remember my story: i wrote a few weeks ago because my dad had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (with around a 6% chance of making it to 5 years, 25% chance of making it to 1 year), and my boyfriend of 4 years kept telling me that he didn't want to get engaged for another 2 years at least, even after I explained to him how important it was that my dad be at my wedding.
...well, apparently he was just trying to throw me off his track! he had been ring shopping the whole time! when he proposed i was soooooo surprised, and so happy.
right now we're planning for a september 2011 wedding, after i graduate law school and take the bar. My dad is having scans every 3 months, and so if the cancer comes back, we'll at least know and have time to have a quick ceremony earlier so that he can be at my wedding. either way, we'll throw a reception for our family and friends in september though.
i want to thank all of you who responded with support and suggestions for me. it really meant a lot to me, and i appreciate all your help.
(oh and ring stats...because that's always the first thing i want to know...lol: .86 ctw, ideal cut round brilliant, H color, SI1 clarity)
