I know there are quite a bit of waiting bees out there and I really like these intro threads.

So let's get to know everyone here.

I would love to share but I'm not a waiting bee.  I'm a newlywed.

Possibly questions to answer... Interests? Are you dating someone?  How much wedding planning have you done?  Does he have the ring?  Just anything!

    Have fun, bees!

--Maybe Mr. Bee might sticky this.

    Hi ladies!

I'm am a book worm, I am crazy about Law & Order:SVU (Stabler.. hubba hubbaTongue out), I am a German car enthusiast, I am an 80's rock lover, and I am down with everything Alaskan!

The boyfriend and I have been together for about 4 and a half years and we're high school sweethearts.

He does not have the ring but I know exactly what I'm going to get! A beautiful yellow gold antique style ring with an oval aquamarine stone in bezel setting with two rows of tiny diamonds as a halo and on the sides. I found photos of a nearly identical ring and told him what I wanted adjusted so it will be custom.

We basically have our wedding planned as it's going to be a small intimate wedding with just our family and maybe a few close friends.

I have been waiting for about 2 years and it probably won't happen for another year or two... So yeah! That's about it!

Hey everyone, I met my man freshman year of highschool and we had crushes on each other but never dated (and thank goodness because we weren't ready!) Seven years later we reconnected and fell ridiculously in love! (like, within a week!) Long story short,(the whole thing is like a fairytale!) we are now living together with our two cats. We have plans to get married in the next year or so, but still waiting on the official engagement!

    Hello!

I work in the transportation industry, but I'm biding my time until I start my PhD program in the Fall of 2011.  I am a rock climber from Atlanta, with a five year plan to move to Chattanooga.  I met my mister while climbing a little over a year ago.  We were pretty much inseperable from the start.  We're constantly working to improve ourselves and learning more about eachother.

We will have been together for a year on April 20th.  I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a ring, but I think he has a good idea of what I want.  I have no clue if he's looking for a ring or when an engagement might be.  I'm just hoping to be surprised.  In the meantime, I'm filling up my bookmarks with lots of ideas.  I can't wait until I'm engaged and we can start making some real decisions, not only for our wedding, but for the rest of our life stories!

Im a 25 year old Medical Assistant from Atlanta, originally from Memphis. I work at a private OBGYN practice north of Atlanta. I am also apart of an all girls drift team and in the process of building (yes the five of us are literally wrenching on the car) a Drift Toyota Cressida.

My SO and I met back in 2002 on a car forum. We are both very very into cars and racing. Mr. Tee and I have been together for a year in April (officially though July 5th) although we have been friends for alot longer. I pretty much knew immediately he was the man for me.. going from friends to dating was really easy as we had always had feelings for each other.

It has been a bit difficult as he lives in Pittsburgh and I live here but we see each other every 6-8 weeks on average. He has the setting as we are using an old setting from my mom, but I dont know about anything else. We have talked abotu getting married next year but thats about all I know.

I already have my dress and have picked out the dress I want my girls to wear. I have also contacted the seller on etsy who did Molly's (The bachelor wedding) bridesmaid necklaces as I loved them and Im going to have them made in Red and silver for my girls (that will be part of my gifts to them). I have already picked out my colors (ruby red, orange, and hot pink with a hint of peacock feathers dyed red for decorations) and have been getting pricing for a couple of different venues.

I cant wait to marry this man and Im so excited that once we are engaged I will be moving to Pittsburgh.

    Hiiii Im Fushiasparkles!

I'm a 25 yr old bartender and USF grad from Tampa, FL. My BF and I knew each other in high school (US History and NJROTC class, I actually joined NJROTC to get another boy's attention lol..i didnt work out obviously) but we were just friends. Fast forward to sophomore yr of college, he found me on Facebook,we met up and started hanging out. Three weeks later we were dating :)

We've been through alot in the past (almost) 5 years. We have been living together for about 3 yrs now and have a cat named Roxas (our baby! lol). People often say we are the same person, only different sexes. We're both goofy, fun-loving and ambitious and are each other's best friend.

Both BF and I were in the greek system at USF and my sorority sisters were absolutely STOKED when BF finally (after 3.5 yrs of dating) lavaliered me with his fraternity letters (basically the equivalent of a promise ring). Now, of course, even though I am graduated, they are all still waiting for me to that e-ring..they are my biggest supporters lol.

Right now, I'm looking for jobs while BF is working two part-time jobs to make money for (and I quote) "our future together". He is going into the Coast Guard this fall after about a year and a half of waiting to get in (darn budget cuts and misinformed recruiters!!) Wherever life takes us, Ill be happy as long as he is by my side!

So thats our story in a nutshell! Lets hear some more! <3

    Hello Bees!

I am 24 years old and a graduate student working on my Ph.D in social psychology (2nd year in the program).  I primarily research romantic relationships (I am cheesy in every area of my life!).  One day I would like to teach psychology and/or do some market research.  As far as hobbies go, I enjoy video games, cooking, reading for pleasure, and shopping.

I met my man when I was a freshman in high school and going through all sorts of weird phases.  He said he fell in love with me then and we went to high school dances together but did not really date.  So he moved off to college since he was 2 years ahead of me in school, but we still talked every single day online even though I was in a 4 year relationship (I knew that ex was NOT the one for sure).  After college, he applied to grad schools all over the country for philosophy and did not get in, so he ended up moving back to our hometown and we started dating that night!  In our first month of dating he had too many drinks and told me how he envisioned my hair on our wedding day (I wish he talked like that now! hehe).  After 2 years of dating he moved with me to Vermont so I could go to school and he ended up finding an amazing job that he loves.  We have a pug named Oliver who is our little dog child.

As for the wedding stuff... I have not planned anything official.  I mostly just gush at the blogs and at wedding dresses.  We both talk openly about what I want/what he wants.  I know it will be a very small ceremony, consisting of immediate family and their SOs.  The BF wants it outside by Lake Champlain and I am leaning toward a picnic themed wedding.  I currently love the colors yellow and Tiffany blue.  Both of our families and all of our old friends live 8 hours away, but I am sure we will have a big, informal get together in Pennsylvania at some point.  He did tell me he wants to get married in August of 2012, and plans on proposing before the summer of 2011.  I went ring shopping alone and told him what I would like since he is going to end up buying the diamond online and wants it to be a surprise.

@ToasterCat, I completely agree with you that I am glad we did not date in HS because I was kind of a man eater back then and we were both immature.

    Hi Bees!

This is such a nice idea--thanks for starting this thread :-)

I'm a 30 year old waiting bee. I work full time as a research analyst and am also in graduate school studying conflict analysis and resolution. Balancing full time work, part time school, and a full time live-in BF can be a challenge, but BF is soooo wonderfully supportive of my many endeavors! He's a keeper :-)

BF and I have been together for 4.5 years and I have a sneaky suspicion that my waiting is coming to an end soon! We picked out a ring together back in January and we're taking a little trip this weekend to "celebrate the end of midterms" (even though one ended up getting pushed back until Monday). I'm hoping that we'll be doing some other celebrating too. Cross your fingers for me ;-)

Thanks for being such an awesome and positive community! I love the hive! So nice to "meet" all you ladies!

    hola!

i'm a youngin. currently only 19, but turning 20 in a few short weeks.

my bf and i have been together for just about 2 years now, and have known for about a year that we would like to get married. neither of us really were brought up to believe in the 'dating' scene, and honestly, i've seen my mom out there and she scared me out of it haha :P

i will be getting engaged this year, or so he says, but it probably won't be until august at least because he doesn't want a long engagement. i want at least a year, and we've decided on december 30, 2011 as a tentative date, so it'd better happen this year :P

basically we've planned a lot of stuff without making anything official. i know myself i have a good idea of what i want, and the other stuff i've narrowed down (so like, photographer, i have a list of them in different budget ranges depending on what we can spend).

    Hi ladies.

I am a 30 year old waiting bee from London, but I live in NYC right now. I work in Government and am a huge bookworm and aspiring writer. I moved in with SO a couple of months ago on the understanding that we would be engaged within a year. So far living together has been amazing, and I'm glad we didn't wait.

In April, my SO and I will have been together for a year in April. We met in a very 'Friends' like situation. We used to live in the same building, and had been friendly/noticing each other for a few months before I finally asked to borrow some sugar:)

We are planning to get married next summer as given that I am 30, we are ready to get a move on popping out some beebees. I'm guessing th eengagement should happen before the end of this summer all though I am kind of hoping it happens sooner as I need a ton of time to plan. I have no idea about the ring situation, because the boy doesn't discuss it with me at all. I am fairly certain he is consulting my best friend behind my back though!

As a newcomer to the bee, I am really loving this thread. It has been so nice to read the stories of other waiting bees, I feel like I know everyone a bit better already!

    Hello everyone!

I've been on the Bee for a while now, but I think this is a great idea!!!

I'm a 24 yr old marketing assistant -- and currently crossing my fingers for a promotion to an event planning position (left a few posts on that already!) and my wonderful SO is a 28 yr old software developer. We will have been together for 5 years this June!!!!! We met through mutual friends when I was a freshman in college and he had just graduated.

We've been living together for about 2 1/2 years and we've been talking about getting married for about a year now... and I have a feeling that a proposal is coming this summer. We're actually going ring shopping tonight!! YAY! I've been trying not to do too much planning, but it's so difficult!!

It's been great hearing more about all of the other waiting bees here!!

    Hi ladies!

I'm a second-time-through college student, working full time and taking full time classes towards a Masters degree in Education (secondary English emphasis). I work at a bank for now (my first degree is in finance) and start student teaching this fall! I'm SO excited for it.

I'm also excited to begin sharing my life with my current boyfriend, The Farmer. We're moving in together next month, and we've been looking at rings. We've been together for a year but we've known each other for a lot longer than that, like since middle school. He's got a cute little country house on a few acres where we're raising our puppy, Diesel, a lab/German shepherd/rottweiler. I'm bringing in my love of interior design to spice up the bachelor pad!

I've somewhat started the planning process, and The Farmer is right on board, which is nice! I've ordered fabric swatches for the bridesmaid dresses and have a photographer ready as soon as we set a date. I can't wait!

    Hey Ladies.

I am 23, and a junior in college, getting ready to go to Law School when I graduate. I went to pastry school in the midst of my college degree, so I am a little late with my B.A. I have been dating my boy for 2.5 years, we met playing Texas Hold'Em at a local card room.

I love photography, and that is what got me on the whole wedding kick. I just love looking at photography and planning blogs. I also have my own Etsy shop where I do custom wedding invitations.

I don't have a ring, and we aren't engaged because we are saving for a house, and it's very important to my SO that we have a house before we get married. And I'd rather have a house than a ring! Boy is very traditional, raised in the suburbs, and I am not at all tradtional and raised in the city. He's French-Canadian, and I am American Indian. We are quite different.

    Anyway. That's me.

    Hi guys!

I've been lurking for a while and its time to introduce myself!

I'm also a little young, I'm 20, turning 21 at the end of the year.  I've been with my BF for 2 years now.  We met when we were freshmen in college, he is my first boyfriend.  We've talked about moving in together after we graduate and there has been some talk about getting engaged, but thats still a few years from now, so it looks like I'll be waiting a while.

I haven't been planning exactly, but I have been following the 'Bee for a couple of months now gathering inspiration for when I do finally have a ring on my finger lol

But about myself, I'm a math/secondary education major attending a small college in PA.  In about a year and a half I'll be in my first year of being a high school math teach and am very excited.

I'm MsMamaBear and I'm dating MrPapaBear. Yes, those are our real nicknames for each other.LOL

I'm 28 and will be 29 in April. I'm a GA Pre-K teacher. I have a BA in English and previously taught  Middle school Language Arts. I also have a Master's in Education, Instruction K-12.

I like to scrapbook, travel (My sister is my travel buddy. We are looking to go back to the DR or Puerto Rico this summer.) and read. The reading is kinda a given, since I majored in English.LOL

Papa Bear and I have been together for a year and 3 months. Not a long time, but we're some old cats. Hopefully that helps with an engagement, but I'm currently chill on engagement right now, surprisingly.

I have to say I'm in the process of buying a house, which is the first thing that will start our life off together. I'm so excited, but chill also. Anyone who has bought a short sale knows what I am talking about.LOL

    Anyway, glad to meet everyone...again.LMAO

Helstrong    April 9, 2011   Overland Park, KS

    Hello :)

I'm 25 years old living in good ole' Kansas. I have only been oficially waiting since October when we went to look for rings.  SO says my ring will be purchased sometime by the summer.  No indication on when he'd be giving it to me. Le sigh.

Mr. Helstrong and I have been together for almost 2 1/2 years.  We met while working at a department store. He worked in mens accessories and I worked in womens accessories.  All of the mens watches were delivered to the womens store and someone always had to walk them across the mall to delive them to the men. I often did this.  Long story short: When SO and I met I was dating someone else who had just started working at the same store part time.  Somehow Mr. Helstrong didn't realize I had a boyfriend and asked me to lunch. I thought it was just as friends... haha... well that turned into more and he ended up stealing me away from my ex (where the relationship had long been over and was pretty much just convience).Mr. Helstrong said he knew when he first talked to me I was the one.. I took a little longer ;)

Mr. Helstrong and I are HUGE KU fans, and are currently enjoying a little March Madness at our house. I love polka dots, watermelon, and all things orderly :)

My weddings plans/ideas are constantly changing!  Hopefully after the proposal we can find our budget and I can start narrowing things down!

Glad to be here with you girls :)

    Hi bees!

I'm brand new to wedding bee. My SO (significant other?- is that what that means?) and I have been together for 6 years. I'm graduating with my Bachelors in Nursing in May and he already has a full time job but is still in undergrad. So whats the hold up!? I don't want to know when it's coming so I am completely in the dark if he is planning something.

    Hi bees,

I just wanted to give a little update. On Friday night, after making a delicious home cooked meal which he served out on our balcony in the beautiful spring weather we've been having, my BF proposed! The whole thing was so thoughtful and personal that even though I wasn't really 'surprised,' I was just so moved! He then whisked me off on a mystery getaway to celebrate over the weekend. We're both so thrilled!

Thanks for being such a supportive community! I'm sure I'll have zillions of questions going forward :-)

hello! first, julialimei, congrats on the engagement!

i'm a 28 year old grad student. i was laid off so now i'm reworking my career path at the moment. i've been dating my lovely mister for 5 years now and we're in an ldr but hopefully that'll end within the year. i'm a planner by nature. seriously, if i wasn't thinking about our wedding, i'd probably be planning another vacation we probably won't take, or decorating our future home, or my birthday party, but that's not til august so i still have some time to work with that idea. while i don't have our wedding planned, i do have a nice skeleton to work with, all with the mister's blessing. he knows planning makes me happy. he doesn't have the ring but he assures me [not that i ever ask about it - i actually forget!] whenever he can that he is saving for the ring.

outside of wb, i'm a huge sports nut who ironically ended up with a non-sports nut. lol. poor guy gets tortured with espn!

Thanks plantains! It really was. After dinner and before proposing, he gave me a wonderful scrapbook of our whole relationship that he had made. He's not normally an artsy kind of person, so it was obvious that he had put so much time and thought into it. To me, that's what makes it really special :-)

    oooo ooo my turn!

    Hey Hive!

23 year old Atlanta gal who luv luv luvs my preppy guy from Asheville, NC. I  have been a long time obsessor over anything and everything wedding related. Weddingbee has so far been one of my top three wedding discoveries of all time! I am an office coordinator for a money management firm and the boyfriend is . . .well he's looking very hard to find a job in Atlanta. He actually gave up his job in North Carolina (We met in college, go Elon Pheonix!) to be with me in the ATL. Which leads me to the waiting part:

Boyfriend quiting job to move here=boyfriend with no job=boyfriend who cannot buy ring=waitingbee (that's me).

We have been looking at rings like crazy! LOOKING being the key word. So until my sweetie can conquer job world, here I sit admiring sparkly things on the world wide web. . .tick tock, tick tock. Oh crap, I'm getting gray hairs. Hurry Up!

    Hello!

This will be my first post, and I think it's pretty appropriate!

I am a 26 year old teacher from NJ. Like many other waiting bees that have posted, I am a huge book lover (reading The Help right now and loving it)  I also love the beach (I get my summers off Wink), shopping, walking my dog in the city (where I currently live) and eating out!

My SO and I have been together for a little less than 5 months, and as I type this I see how crazy it looks that I know that I've found the one for me in such a short period of time, but I know.  He is 2 years younger, but immensly more mature.  He is KIND (a rarity anymore I believe!), compassionate, passionate, affectionate, hard-working, family orienented, has a wonderful group of friends, is responsible, and hilarious!

SO told me (after a few drinks) a little while back that he has a timeline for things, and when I pressed him he confessed he wants to be engaged by the 2010 holidays. We will have been together over a year by then, so I think thats great!

Our major challenge at this point is money.  He is in the union, and will eventually do very well, but he is only halfway through his 4 year apprenticeship, and is making less than half of what he will eventually make.  I am a non-tenured teacher, and due to major budget cuts, I have lost my full-time teaching position for next year.  We will have to do some major budgeting if we decide to get married before his 4 years is up, or before I have a full time job again.

He will pick out the ring, that's just how he is.  He likes to show me that he knows me without me telling him what I like, so I make sure to drop very subtle hints. I'm sure he'll do a great job. I've been visiting wedding websites since I was 16, and all that's come from that is that my "vision" has changed at least 25 times in the last 10 years. I am the epitomy of indecisiveness, and so I could plan for the next 10 years, but will need a dealine in front of me to finally make any decisions.

For now I'm content to live vicariously through everyone on the board!

    Hooray for this post!  :)

First things first:  @Julialimei: CONGRATULATIONS a million times over!!!!  I'm a little bit tardy to the party on this one, but I wish you and the Mr. all the best!!!  Can't wait to watch your plans unfold!

Okay, now about the Chicken Wings!  I'm a 25-year-old Southern gal from small-town Virginia.  I'm a pretty busy girl with two jobs!  I work full-time for a TV station as their Research and Promotions Coordinator, a job that I absolutely love and have been doing for 4 years.  I just started working part-time last year for a photography and events company as a second-shooter photographer and event planning executive assistant!  On top of that, the Mister and I just entered into a semi-LDR, and that leaves me to be "single mommy" to our three tiny dogs!  LOL!  So, yeah, busy comes to mind!

Mr. CW is a 28-year-old Northern VA guy who recently took a job as the Retail Operations and Inventory Manager for his family's interior/exterior landscaping and plantscaping design firm (the reason for our semi-LDR).  They're doing phenomenally, and he loves what he does!  I love that he now has what I have, which is job fulfillment, and his talents are being recognized and appreciated every day, which is what I wanted for him!

We met in college (he's a fraternity guy, I'm a sorority girl, and I also was later named his fraternity's "sweetheart").  At the time, we were both in other relationships (he was GETTING MARRIED).  Neither of our relationships went the way we'd planned, and we found ourselves friends that had a lot in common, and a fantastic connection!  We realized that we'd found something special and things quickly developed from there!

I laugh as I say that because, here we are, about to celebrate our 6th anniversary in 19 days, and I can guarantee that EVERYONE felt we'd be married by now!  I feel much akin to fuschiasparkles

As for when we'll get engaged, I'm hoping we will be by summer of this year, and as far as wedding planning goes, we both have the same vision.  My man appreciates the fact that I'm actually not bad at this wedding planning thing, and he usually supports my ideas 100%.  If he feels strongly, he speaks up and we discuss.  We actually make an awesome team, which is why I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with him.  What can I say?  I'm a lucky girl!  Fun post!

Hello everyone! I am 23 and a student in Boston.. My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and a half (we were friends for about three years before that) and we're both getting ready to graduate college in May! After that, we'll be living apart for a few months while he relocates to California (where he is originally from) to get a place set up for us to live (together, for the first time!) and I'll stay here in Boston working at a summer job. In August he'll meet me back here and we'll take the LONG roadtrip out to the west coast!

The two of us have talked about marriage for a while now (yes, he knows about my WB obsession), but as far as planning, I've yet to set anything in stone (it feels too strange to!). We started looking at rings together several months ago and though I picked out several VERY different styles, he recently told me he already knows exactly what I want and what he will get for me (!!!). As far as a timeline, I'm not expecting an engagement soon, since we are both still in school and have little to no savings. Also, I intend to start a graduate program next year, so that will probably change things a bit!

I'm excited to see everyone around!

    Hi ladies,

I'm a 21 year old dental hygiene student with about a year left of school. The Mr. is also 21 with a couple years left before he graduates with an accounting degree. We're high school sweethearts who have been together for almost 4 1/2 years.

I know he already has the ring and apparently the proposal is coming kind of soon (although I really don't know what his idea of soon is)! I already have a ridiculous number of bookmarks related to weddings and can't wait to be able to actually plan and get my younger sister excited about helping me DIY.

@Julialimei:  You are so welcome!  It's awesome to "meet" you too!  HOORAY FOR VA!  I always get excited when I find a fellow Virginian!  What part of VA are you from?

And this might be silly, but SHOUT OUT to Kirabee!  (I had her as one of my lovely ladies in the WB Valentine's Swap!)  Laughing

I'm Trish I'm 24 and live in Florida. The bf is Brad. We met 6-7 years ago in college but never dated just crushed on eachother, lol. Fast forward to Jan of last year. I found him on facebook and we decided to get together for drinks. We have since moved in together and are seriously talking about the next step in our relationship :).

We like being adventerous and goofy. We like fake rock wall climbing, visiting the animal shelter, and traveling... oh and we are both foodies.

Also, I have been married before. And Brad was engaged for about a month before he found out his ex was lying/cheating. So we were both a bit skittish about marriage at first, however we have grown a lot since we've been together.

    *coming out of lurking mode*

I am a 25y/o working, college attending woman who currently lives in Illinois via Washington D.C. The BF and I met online in 2002 but didn't "meet" online until 2005 because I was always cautious of getting personal online with the messageboard we were on, lol. Anyway at the time he was recently divorced fulltime dad of a five year old (who is almost 11!) and I was fresh out of a long term relationship - we took it easy friends first plus I lived like 900 miles away lol.

On December 2005 I resigned from my job in downtown Arlington, VA and packed up everything to be nearer to him since airlines costs were getting out of hand (we visited one another like twice every month). So here we are 5 years later and still no proposal we looked at rings and everything...but nothing. At this point I can't lie I am mad as hell that we have been living together with his son for five years and I have yet to be able to even call him my fiancee.... :(

Anyway I still have a small gleam of hope and saw you ladies here, well some who are in similar boats but encouraging one another to "be happy" if nothing else with who YOU ARE rather than obsess too much (is there such a thing?) over when, where and why's of a proposal.....

    Ahhh this was therapeutic....lol
