@nicole38:  Hi Nicky. Welcome to the Hive. I can completely understand your desire to make it ‘official’ but saying you’ll walk despite the kids just because he won’t put a ring on it makes me wonder. I think a good talk is what’s required. Obviously your SO doesn’t realise how serious you are about getting married and isn’t on the same page as you in regards to its importance. Schedule a sit-down serious discussion with him on the subject and don’t allow him to leave until it’s resolved and you have a definite answer as to if and/or when you can expect to be walking down the aisle.

@katlovesjames:  +1, great advice….I might also add that do you really want to push him and force a proposal?

@nicole38:  I’m glad you’re going to try talking to him about this again. I think you need to be quite firm about how you feel and insist he gives you a clear answer about his intentions. If he doesn’t see marriage in your future, you need to know that, as it sounds like it’s a dealbreaker for you. You don’t want to be waiting around for something that may never come. Life’s too short to sacrifice your own happiness for someone else’s. Good luck and let us know how you go.

@nicole38:  You’re very welcome. I really hope he puts his fear behind him and you’re able to agree on moving forward with getting married. Best of luck. x
