    Hi Bee's!

I'm a newbee to waiting (if 6 months or so is new...) & I'm excited for the holidays because I think that's when it'll happen! We've had multiple big weddings/engagements/family events recently and they're FINALLY coming to an end! (By the end of November.. thank goodness!) SO, I'm hoping this will clear some time and hopefully some spotlight for OUR engagement :)

We've been ring shopping and discussing when's/where's of the actual wedding. I've picked my DREAM ring that's within our budget and he loves it, too!

    Crossing my fingers!!

Any bee's think it'll happen during the 2010 holidays?? Is your dream proposal on Christmas or New Years?

Another bee posted something about this a few days ago. I guess for me and my BF my deadline is the end of the year. So he knows it must happen by Dec. 31st. Although I'm praying for sooner since we've both agreed on a June 2011 DW.

I don't care when it happens either but the holidays would be memorable. I doubt if he would do it on the actual "holiday" just because we will be around so much family and my BF is more low key. Although I could be wrong. His Mom and a few of his aunts will be here for Thanksgiving. Then his daughter will be here for Christmas. So we'll see. Preferably I would want it like the day or a couple days before a holiday just so I could share with everyone the celebration. Not necessarily the moment.

I am sort of opposed to getting engaged on a holiday. I am starting to think that Christmas, however, might be nice? I wonder how a Christmas proposal would go? I might be a wreck though by Christmas wondering what would happen if he didn't propose!?

@MissBuffalo: Me too! That's why I don't think I want it ON the actual holiday. Plus that's just pushing my buttons. Like waiting til the final hour (in my situation with my timeline) Oh Gosh! I don't even want to think about it. By then I will probably be a psycho crazy lady because of waiting.

@MissBuffalo - I used to think that too! Never really wanted to get engaged on the actual holiday but I started day dreaming, lol, about xmas morning...waking up and going into the living room together and him making us coffee and hanging it as an ornament on the tree or something like that! :)

No to Christmas-love it though- but I wouldn't mind a NYE propsal, like right at the countdown!

I'm hoping that he has plans to do it over the holidays.  We'll have plenty of opportunities - we're spending Thanksgiving with my family, then going down to Florida to his family's for Christmas and New Years.  I kind of think he might like to do it when we're with his family.  And since we're both SUPER busy until Thanksgiving (we're both grad students and our quarter ends right before the holidays), I'm really hoping he's planning it for soon after then!  I think I might have a bit of a waiting breakdown if NYE comes and goes with no proposal.

@MissBuffalo: I agree. I always thought, engagement day is special enough all on its own, it doesn't need to share with a holiday!

Honestly, I would absolutely lovelovelove it if my SO proposed during the holidays. Mainly because, as I mentioned in the other post about this subject, my 30th birthday falls the day after Thanksgiving this year. So I'd be over the moon if it happened during the holidays. I would be perfectly happy if I got nothing else for my bday OR for Christmas, if I had a sparkly on my hand. Buuuuuut, when I had a meltdown after Valentine's day last year, it sort of sparked an argument, and BF made it perfectly clear that he wouldn't do it on a big holiday like that. Course, he's eaten his words before, so you never know.

I'm kinda hoping for it to happen during the holidays, but I don't think it will.  I've been feeling him out, he is a terrible secret keeper and I'm pretty positive he has made no progress in picking out the ring.  Oh well, that Christmas proposal is still a fun engagement fantasy.

The day dreaming about Christmas morning is what gets me! We spend our Christmas morning opening presents, just us, and it's such an amazing time. We're cuddly in our PJ's and so excited about what we got eachother! Might make for an awesome engagement :) AND I'd get to share the excitement with family through the rest of the holiday!

Although I don't think a V-Day engagement is appropriate for us- we're not V-day folk, haha. Christmas is definitely our favorite time!

I know my boyfriend already bought the ring.  He told me to go ahead and book a venue so my mom and I are going to look at two this Saturday.  We aren't even engaged!  I was there when he bought the ring, too.  We are doing this backwards, I think!  I think he might propose next week, but it could be any time during the holidays or even next year.  How weird is that ... to have a venue booked for next year but to go several months without being officially engaged?  I am on his health insurance, so technically we are 'domestic partners'.  LOL.

December is the earliest that it would happen, but I think it's going to be maybe after holidays if anything. I'm just going to see what happens either way I love the holiday season. It'll be special regardless of a ring  :-)

I was really hoping for a proposal around Christmas, I had convinced myself it was perfect timing and he hasnt yet asked me what I want- hoping it's a good sign. I have given myself a shut up date of 31 dec. Was hoping it'd all fall into place so we could married before the summer in 2011 (which we've talked about) but now I feel it's slipping away. I'm going to be pretty gutted not to have a ring/proposal by jan 2011. I'm trying to remain calm and not freak out to give him the space to do it but equally I feel like screaming in his face! I hope hope hope he knows it's what I'm dreaming of. Felt like just writing 'will you marry me?' in the snow this morning. But I know he wants to be the one who does the asking...
