Congrats!
We called close family and friends the night of, but waited a day before spilling the beans to everyone else. We got engaged on December 30, and I wanted to wait until after the New Year to share the news and just enjoy the glow a little by ourselves. But a good friend of mine was SO excited that she was leaving semi-cryptic messages on Facebook that didn't take a genius to figure out I was engaged. So I had to pre-empt that and post the announcement myself. Lol! She really was super excited for us, though!
I waited about an hour haha. My FI and I are long distance so we wanted to get the new out ASAP.
We were away on holidays too when he proposed. We waited about 2 weeks before we told anybody, it was torture!!!
Congrats! We firstly told our families in personal after he proposed and I said yes! Then announced our engagement on Facebook & Twitter, which received hundreds of blessings from our friends! It was very excited. LOL
I got engaged in Jamaica last month! We actually waited until we got home to tell anyone! We enjoyed basking in our engagement, just the two of us, for a couple of days. I loved seeing the reactions in person the day we got home! We slowly started making calls to close family and friends in the days following. After all of our VIPs knew, we put it on facebook last.

I got engaged during Spring Break of my last semester in college. We called and told family to keep it a secret. I was in a sorority and we have a special reveal ceremony that not everyone gets. It was so hard to keept it a secret for 10 days, but I managed. Once I had my ceremony I announced it on FaceBook.

My honey and I got engaged on Saturday while on vacation. We both called our parents and other close family to tell them of the engagement soon after. Everyone is thrilled and can't wait to see us when we get home this Saturday.
I was planning on waiting till I got home to update my Facebook and stuff cause I know it will go crazy once I do. However, it sounds like the news is already spreading back home cause we are both starting to get emails of congratulations. Plus, some people that we were traveling with have posted pictures from our very impromptu engagement party that quite clearly shows bling.
We would both like to enjoy our post-engagement bubble for the rest of this vacation. After that, it's fair game and I'll start doing all the updates. Sound reasonable? How did you announce your engagement?
