Waiting to ovulate here....super imaptient.
I'm still trying to figure out my cycles....er, my cycles are trying to figure themselves out too, after only 3 cycles off BC.
I was really excited to be officially charting this month, and the chart prediction had my O on Wednesday. So 5 days before that, I got super excited and started being really really into BD. DH is thrilled. But now that it's been 6 days of trying to stay all focused and excited about BD, now I'm starting to just wonder when I'm going to O. Today? Tomorrow? NExt week? Maybe I'll be like many ladies who have written about freakishly long cycles of like 100 days!
I'm way too type-A for TTC; it's driving me crazy!
Okay, time for some more relaxation and green tea. Any home remedies/voodoo to get me to O? I'll be googling that now. Just had to vent.
haha i know the feeling i O'd yesterday... and i was obsessing over it..
Such a bad thing lol sometimes stupid OPK sticks
@cvbee - are you using fertility friend? I don't know if this applies to you, but I thought I ovulated last week and was so disappointed when the chart did not give me crosshairs the next day. It turns out, even though I ovulated on the friday, it takes 3 days of sustained temps in order for them to count the day as ovulating (so, by the time it told me I ovulated I was 3 DPO). Not sure if that helps you, but there is still hope that you ovulated yesterday if today's temp was higher! Fingers crossed for you :)
Thanks ladies!
@Jane_Doe, I'm using TCOYF. My temp hasn't even begun to rise yet.
On the up-side, (TMI) I think I have had a change in CM. I'm still a little iffy about checking CM and so I decided to stop worrying about it. (Sorry TMI again,) today I am noticing my CM even though I'm not checking it, if you know what I mean. (Can't believe I am discussing CM...a few months ago I didn't even know what CM was!)
I don't even have OPK sticks. If I did, I'd be using them all up this week!
More BD tonight. Maybe higher temp tomorrow?
Maybe my little overy is saving it up for our anniversary on Saturday. ;)
I never ended up trying it and don't necessarily recommend it, but I did read up on taking soy isolflavones (sp?) to initiate ovulation... it's supposed to be nature's chlomid or something?
I was/am one of those women with irregular cycles and sometimes don't ovulate until CD20-30 (while other times I O pretty much right on time). I was going to try taking soy if I had difficulty getting pregnant, but I didn't end up needing to.
@AvantLaLettre: I read your post last night before bed and thought "fun! I will get some soy products in the morning" and then this morning, I finally got my temp shift.
I think that means I O'd yesterday, right? Temp up today means O day before?
We didn't BD yesterday, which makes me a little sad (waiting all month and knowing it was the day, but for timing not to work out), but it's possible that the little swimmers can live for a while, right? So here's hoping that the BD earlier in the week did the trick.
Well, looks like it's time for me to hit the TWW boards!
@cvbee: Yay!
I wanted to say something about soy real quick. I wouldn't just start taking it. Soy mimics estrogen in the body, so it can actually interfere with normal hormone processes. I imagine for some people it might be in a helpful way, but I wouldn't take more without talking to a doctor. I've actually cut out almost all soy from my diet.
Isn't sex guilt the worst? I had the same thing happen. I didn't get a temp rise when I thought and DH had one 2 day gap, the rest were all every other day. But that was the important one! Oh well....let it go... See my mantra of the month in the TWW thread: No Guilt!
@cvbee: I agree with Mrs Green Grass to talk to your doctor first, and do a lot of research. It's also not just the soy that you can eat, like soy food products, but it's super high levels of soy (pills) and you have to take them on certain days of your cycle, like 3-7 or something. You can't just start taking it. That's why I said I don't necessarily recommend it... I probably would have wussed out because I just get worried about messing up my already messed up cycles. But I hate waiting to O when you have long cycles. Super glad you got your temp shift though, congrats!!!
I am glad you got your O rise. I am in the same boat right now. This is my 2nd month charting without bc. First month was textbook perfect. This month is all over the place. I am currently on day 21 without a temp rise yet. However I feel it coming soon. Either tomorrow or Sunday is my guess. Which is perfect for me because my hubby was away on travel and obviously no time for BDing. I was on edge every time I took my temp this week because if it went up there was pretty much 0% chance. Thankfully he comes back today so maybe our hopes of this month arn't out the window. Fingers crossed :-)
@miss.skinner: hey, we are cycle sisters...it is my day 21 too! My first month off BC was also 'textbook perfect'. I think your little ovary is holding onto the egg until you can be with your DH. Fingers crossed!
@Mrs Green Grass: no guilt! I love it! Last night when we probably 'should have', I just knew it and I told him too. But we were so tired and wouldn't have normally done it that late and under those circumstances. He said he would do it, but I said no.....(at this point) I do not want to conceive a child with (as you term it) guilt sex. If we're still in this boat a year from now, I will probably be super-okay with guilt sex. :)
@cvbee: haha Well the hubby came home last night and no spike yet. I am thinking tomorrow which would be perfect. Fingers crossed. How great would it be with we both conceived this month. I'm hopeful for the both of us. :-)
@cvbee: glad you got your rise! And they say those boys can live up to 5 days, so still plenty of chances :)
@cvbee:LOL. I'm too type A for it, too.
I'm "almost finished" with my miscarriage, according the blood levels at the doctor, but still temping and what not... today I have EWCM. Um, body, what are you DOING?
@Jane_Doe:I agree--unfortunately you can mostly tell if you O by the data the few days *after* in other words, too late for the BD this cycle. I wish there was a better way to know before hand.
Still waiting. I'm CD 17. And I can tell I'm close to O, maybe tomorrow or Saturday... Dumb long cycles!
How about you ladies?
@PasteMoo: after all of this, my temp went back down, sadly. (I've talked about it on another thread: the TWW thread, which I jumped aboard after I thought I finally O'd). So, either I will O later this cycle or this is a non-O cycle. I'm on cycle day 27. I've now resigned myself to the fact that I'm not as "normal" after going off the pill as I thought I was.
I'm super glad that I am taking my temperatures so that I will have more information to understand what's going on. It was these Weddingbee Boards that inspired me to temp. I noticed that all the other girls knew when they O'd and I didn't.
I wish I had shorter cycles too. So many more chances per year! Keep up the BD dance PasteMoo and good sticky baby dust luck to you!
@cvbee:Sigh. :( I think my first pregnancy the cycle was 50 days before I got the BFP. So... 27 days and no O, I've been there. It's extremely frustrating. You should get a punching bag. :)
I have no idea when or if I O this month :( My cycles are still slightly irregular with only a few days difference each time and I haven't had any change or increase in CM. Technically it was supposed to be this week. We've been BD a lot but I'm worried this month is a bust :(
@PasteMoo: I know! I just hate not knowing if I got the right times, you know? Ugh.
I've been using TCOYF for years! I'm so addicted. I'm on CD7 now and cycle #2 TTC. My son was a lucky cycle 1 baby, and I really hope I get pregnant during this cycle. I usually ovulate around cd17, so I have about a week before I start seeing EWCM. I can hardly wait!
@KansasPrincess11: If you've been BD a lot, as long as you O, it doesn't matter how long your cycle is. It just takes doing it around the time you O. Don't give up!
@MapleBecky: Good luck!!! How long are your cycles usually? I ask because I haven't noticed EWCM this month at all but I'm technically supposed to be O this week and haven't gotten a nothin...I'm SO new to this though...
My cycles are about 31 days. Do you like green tea? I have been reading that it helps. At first, I only noticed EWCM for about a day or so, now I see it for almost a week now, I don't even technically need to chart. Drink lots of water that week too. PM me if you ever have a question, I've gotten good with reading charts.
@MapleBecky: Thanks for the advice! I drink a lot of water every day, that's the one thing I'm really good at, haha! I think because I'm starting to really REALLY want to get PG NOW that it's getting more frustrating when I don't see the signs. I haven't started to track my temps, I told myself I'd wait until 6 months after we start trying. I see why it gets so tough for people who have trouble. :(
I do! They sometimes throw off my chart, but last cycle they were bang on.
@PasteMoo: I use OPK's and they are really the ONLY way (combined with CM) I can tell if I'm ovulating or not. If I get a positive (even faint, they are ALWAYS faint with me) combined with EWCM, I assume I AM ovulating and act accordingly. ;)
@jaguar: Have you thought about charting? Even for a month or two? The reason I ask is because I started out like you, using OPKS and relying on EWCM, but I WASN'T ovulating even during the times I swore I was. I even had the discomfort and ovary pain, but it was actually from cysts being formed, not from the release of an egg.
The only way I found out was from charting because I never had a temp spike. It was a cause for concern so I went to the doctor and we found out that I only ovulate from one ovary (so cut my chances by 50% already), and even my other ovary only ovulates when it feels like it.
I'm not saying you have anything as drastic, but the only way to CONFIRM ovulation 100% is to chart. I just don't want you to waste time if you're truly not ovulating!
I'm a huge fan of charting temps. It takes away so many mysteries and is easy to do!
@MrsMaine: I chart as well. :) I go by the OPK's when they're combined with the CM I look for - the temps are a bit erratic for me, I never seem to find patterns, even though I've been charting since December!
@cvbee::) Easy except when you forget a day! OR even when you don't forget a day but a day or two look really weird. then what? I think I messed up my chart, too.
I think I may O sooner than expected. My software says next Tuesday, but my OPKs are getting darker and I just got some EWCM today. Knowing my body, I think I'll ovulate by the end of the week. Crossing my fingers.
I'm trying hard not to get *too* excited this cycle. I was really disappointed last cycle when AF came.
@MapleBecky: It's hard NOT to get excited - when you're so hopeful, you read into everything... or at least I know I have been!
So true! I tend to worry about everything, and cannot believe I have let my mind go to "what if we are infertile" so soon!
Anyone else waiting to O? I need a buddy! I'm getting EWCM and my OPK is almost positive! How many of you have sex everyday vs. every other day while ttc?
@MapleBecky can we be buddies!!?? I am waiting to O too! DH and I have been bding like crazy just in case but I am still impatiently waiting the arrival of EWCM! I guess I have longer cycles, they've been 30, 33, 34, 36, and last month 47....ugh!!
We're EXHAUSTED!! However, are trying our hardest this month. We're also 2 months into this process last month being a ntnt month which was a total bust. Once I finally ovulated late, AF showed up like clockwork. We've been BDing every day so far!!
Come on swimmers, SWIM!! How long do sperm live in the body again? I told dh if tomorrow is a bust for ewcm I think a night off might be a good idea!! ;oP
I am so glad to have a buddy!
Sperm can live a few days if you have fertile cervical fluid. If your fluid looks clear and like eggwhites (very wet and lubricated), you are fertile and they can live a few days.
It was so hard seeing AF come, and I have read somewhere that waiting to do it every other day give the sperm a chance to built up and there is still always some in you when you have the right conditions. The only problem is that my insticts want to go ahead and do it everyday!
Are you taking OPKs or charting?
I am tracking, but not quite at the OPK or temping phase in the game. I bought a bbt thermometer, but after 3 days of inconsistent temps due to my irregular "wake" times I decided DH and I would just TTC based on my chart through my ipad app and cervical mucuous. No EWCM yet, still waiting anxiously. However, have been hoping the see it the day after BDing as i know sperm can live quite long.
i'm trying to act natural, and not stress/obsess but i CAN'T HELP IT!!!
I don't know many people who can act natural about it when they know about their fertility signs!
Good luck!
