So a year before the wedding, I had the Mirena IUD installed. Darling Husband and I agreed that when the IUD’s time is up, we’d start TTC at that point.
That means four years left of unadulterated adult time! I’m curious! Is there anyone out there in the same boat? What are you planning on doing with your time?
We want to:
Travel to a new country at least once a year
Buy a house
Erase all cc debt
Each of us write at least one book
Learn to sail together
For us, we are excited for 2018, but are so excited about this journey. Is there anyone else doing the same?

JackiBean: my situation is different. Fi and I had a daughter in January (yay) and I got the IUD in 6 weeks PP. I had been telling him I would like a wedding night baby (September, 26, 2015 lol) but as our daughter is getting older I want to give her more time for just her plus, financially it would be VERY expensive for day care to have two littles ones so close without any sort of assistance! I might get it taken out still, before the 5 years is up bc I would be about 31 and I don’t really want to have kids I much past 30.

- Wedding: June 2012 - Hollins House at Pasatiempo, Santa Cruz CA
JackiBean: I’m in a similar boat, but just 5 years later. I got the mirena iud when my Darling Husband and I were still dating. Fast forward 5 years, we have:
Been married for 1.5 yrs.
Bought a house last year
Complete house renovations
Traveled to Jamaica, mexico, Europe, Hawaii, and recently Peru.
Got a dog 3yrs ago that’s the center of our lives
Both got new jobs & promoted
All this is to say that 5 years passed so quickly and I just took out my IUD and we will be TTC in the next month or two! I am happy for you and your Darling Husband and wish you have such a rewarding and fun 5 yrs before babies!

I got mine in 2011, and it’s the Paragard, so it lasts 10 years. I’m definitely not waiting that long! I’ll probably have mine taken out in the next 2-4 years. It’s a waste of free birth control, but I knew that would be the case when I got it!
