Alright, it’s 430 am and I am starving, so I’m eating a piece of zucchini bread and wondering if any other ladies had this during their first trimester.
For me it just started a few days ago and I’m around 9 weeks along but it’s driving me a bit bonkers since I’m having trouble falling back to sleep afterwards. My husband thinks it’s pregnancy making me sleepier than normal, I think it’s the bathroom breaks and food mongering.
I eat a snack before I go to bed and we eat dinner fairly late. The first day it happened I thought it was because I’ve become more of a grazer than a meal eater, like I eat little meals throughout the day because for some reason my stomach gets really full when I try to have a big meal (wasn’t really like this before pregnancy). But last night I finally ate a big dinner and still I woke up starving. I’m just going to have to deal with crumbs in the bed or something and start packing myself a snack to take to bed with me at night. Pregnancy is weird.

It didn’t happen to me but I had a couple friends that did this during their pregnancy. It was a short term thing for both of them and it went away during the 2nd trimester. Your eating habits will change several times through your pregnancy.

I kept food next to the bed to minimize morning sickness, but maybe this help out with your midnight hunger, too? Then, you wouldn’t have to get out of bed and all the way down to the kitchen in order to eat, and you might be able to fall back asleep faster.

I did feel hungry, but I never indulged it because I didn’t want to have middle of the night nausea. Rice crackers by the bedside for morning, but that was it for me 🙂

I have felt hungry at night, but haven’t usually eaten during the night. It hasn’t been enough to keep me awake. But I wake up STARVING and even after eating breakfast around 8ish (usually a multigrain bagel and juice) I’m starving by 10 or 11.

Pregnancy is weird.–you said it, sister!!
It’s a new thing every week/day. I have the same thing in 2nd and 3rd trimesters. At first, I would just get up in the middle of the night and go on the computer, not realizing I was hungry. But as soon as I had a glass of milk, after being up an hour, I was ready for a nice long sleep. Last night, I slept all the way through and I am going to eat a nice big breakfast. But yah, the first time that happened after eating a huge dinner, I thought, what is wrong with me. 🙂 Make sure to get a lot of fiber to keep everything flowing. 🙂 If you like milk, just 1 glass usually does the trick for me.

I never woke up in the middle of the night hungry. But I always had snacks in my purse, the car, my office, EVERYWHERE so I could snack, snack, snack throughout the day. Maybe keep something bedside, so you don’t have to get up, turn on the lights, and mess up your circadian rhythm.

So far I haven’t woken up in the middle of the night hungry, but I’ve been so hungry lately and feel like I have to eat all the time, especially in the evenings.
