I’m in the beginning stages of planning my wedding (we’ve been engaged for 4 years it’s ABOUT TIME LOL)
I was thinking about who would give me away and while my stepdad and I are really close (my bio dad is deceased), I was really wanting to have my 2 sons do it, or have my oldest do it (he’s 12) and my younger son and daughter be the ring bearer and flower girl. Is it okay to be non traditional that way?

@princessdrea: Of course it is! If you explain your wishes to your step dad I’m sure he’ll understand, especially if the spot will be taken by one of your own children. 🙂

@princessdrea: It is perfectly fine to do what you want!! Non-traditional seems to be the new traditional!

@princessdrea: Absolutely! You could have your stepdad walk you halfway down to meet your kids, and then he can pass you to your kids, who can give you away to your FI.
I was at a wedding this year where the bride walked halfway down alone (she had just lost her father) and her husband walked down to meet her, and they went the rest of the way up together. It was really beautiful.

That sounds SO SWEET! I think that would be adorable.
