I’ll be walking down the aisle to Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros.  It’s icelandic and has lyrics, but I don’t think it matters.  In fact, I’d say music with appropriate lyrics can really help set a mood where sometimes instrumental music cannot.  As long as the music falls in line with the restrictions of your venue, I don’t see the problem. 🙂

My friend walked down the aisle to that song “Marry Me” by Train… it was really sweet and touching. I think if your venue allows it (I know some churches have restrictions on the music you can have) then go for it! An alternative would also be to try to find an instrumental version of the song you like or have someone play it on piano- I think you can find sheet music to almost every song out there.

I didn’t.  Secular music wasn’t allowed by the church.

I’m not sure I would do it, personally.  A church really isn’t the place for that.

I will be walking down the aisle to a song with lyrics but my reception won’t be in a house of worship though if your place allows it, do whatever you want!

I’m set on walking down the aisle to “We Found Each Other In The Dark”, if SO and I ever get married – it’s so fitting for our relationship. However, we’ve already discussed having an outdoor wedding, and it may be different in a church.

My SIL walked down the aisle to “First day of my life” by Bright Eyes (which was beautiful), and I’ll probably be walking down the aisle to “Today” by Joshua Radin. It definitely can be done and I prefer it to classical music (love classical, but I think the lyrics can help others understand the meaning of the song).

I walked down to “Hold Us Together” by Matt Maher and I loved it. It’s a Christian song, so the pastor and church cleared it, and we received a lot of compliments on how it started the ceremony so well- loving, lively, and cheerful. Even my dubstep-only teenage brother was singing it the other day, and the wedding was almost 5 months ago 🙂 I say go for it if you love it!
