I think the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey is awesome in any occasion. If you walk down the aisle to that I will give you $10 and my eternal respect and gratitude.

I love Bittersweet Symphony. Especially if it's played by string instuments (violin and harp) TO DIE FOR.

i like this version of Nothing Else Matters by Apocalyptica.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbTozgoj9OQ

There is a great part where the music gets really strong. You could totally burst through the entrance doors at that point and make it epic. ;)

Seriously though, I would honestly consider this song for walking down the aisle.

If there are any rock or metal songs that you like (metal works great since it's often melodic) you can often find string instrument versions!

Totally nerdy but I also love

The Darth Vadar theme! Haha, I always thought it would be hilarous for a bride to enter to that, like "Oh no! She's coming!!"

Other than that I have no suggestions, sorry!

'This Old Love' by Lior is the song we are having our first dance to, but I think it would work beautifully to walk down the aisle to! Completely untraditional but gorgeous! Just depends what kind music style you enjoy :)

My fiance is a HUGE fan of the band Heart. I would LOVE to suprise him by walking down the aisle to a Heart song (we have a string ensemble playing during our ceremony so it would be their cover of the song, not the song directly from the CD).  I don't know much about Heart other than Barracuda and the mop commercial--does anyone have any suggestions of their songs that would be appropriate?

Possibly far more epic than you're looking for, but Death is the Road to Awe by Clint Mansell (for The Fountain soundtrack) is in my opinion one of the most stunningly beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. It's 8 minutes long but I promise it has the most amazing ending.

Also, I second the suggestion of Apocalyptica playing Nothing Else Matters.

I'm walking down to Sarah Harmer's "Open Window".

I think it's different, but pretty.

@LindaD76: I love Heart and I think some great options would be 'These Dreams' and 'All I wanna Do is Make Love to You'. Those are personally 2 of my all time faves from them!

What is your meaning of Epic?

@Mrs.tobe:  That song, even without the lyrics, just makes me think of cruel intentions which makes me think of cocaine and people getting hit by cars.

@Amaryllis: You know it!  Early on in the wedding planning, I actually told my husband I wanted to do it and he said hell to the no.  I was only half joking, too.

@sailor: I don't think my FI would get it!

As far as epicly NERDY songs, I want my ladies to walk down to the Golden Girls theme song "Thank you for being a friend." None of FI's family will get the joke, but my friends will crack up. While they're walking. Maybe not the best idea? We'll see.

@Tickles: I've seen a wedding where the couple came in together to the Darth Vader theme (aka the Imperial March). It WAS epic and quite funny.

Tunacupcakes I LOVE both your suggestions! I might be considering changing what I'm using!

I'm using A River Flows in You by Yiruma for the BMs and GMs:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-4wUfZD6oc

I'm walking down the aisle to Liz On top of The World from the Pride and Prejudice movie:

I would totally go nerdy and use the love song that tunacupcakes posted above but our recessional is from star wars. ;)

I am severly tempted to walk down the aisle to the Imperial March from Star Wars. Epic indeed.

Or the Harry Potter music. YES!

@Tunacupcakes: Hehe, love that one but this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDoGvgWfQjc has been on my mind. It's Anakin's theme =) I think it's beautiful, and would probably make my boyfriend chuckle. That or . . .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAME_nxccpM Temple of the Moon . . .from World of Warcraft. It's where we met, so it would almost be ideal. I am praying with my heart and soul that he is my one and only. So far, things are going terrific. I love him deeply.

To the OP what do you like as far as interests and what is a common interest between you and your FH?? I think some movie soundtracks and video game soundtracks have some pretty epic music.

Huh, I just realized that haven't even thought about what the heck I am walking in to GAH! I will probably find something by Vitamin C Orch, I'm addicted to them thanks to looking for our 1st dance song.

My fiance (and a few guests) would kill me if I walked down the aisle to anything Star Wars episodes 1-3... we are exiting to the Throne Room Theme :) (the medal ceremony song at the end of Star Wars: A New Hope).

This thread is cracking me up!  So many great, non-traditional, EPIC ideas!  We gave our ceremony music a Beach Boys theme (we live in so cal). We got married outdoors and the weather was warm.

Guys (and inlaws) walked out to Good Vibrations

    Girls walked to California Girls

I walked to God Only Knows

During the ceremony, after we exchanged vows, we played a clip of this song www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3laKLuZkbM starting at about 27 seconds (And that's I do).

We also did our first dance to the Beach Boys version of Then I Kissed Her.

My sister's ceremony music was all Beatles.

Processional: Don't Stop Believing string version by the Low Strung

Recessional after sword arch: All you need is love - Beatles

Entry to reception: some version of the imperial march

first dance: God Only Knows - beach boys

Parent-child dance: you're my best friend - Queen

Cake cutting: Pour some sugar on me

Last Dance:  someone to love - Queen

I consider all of that non-traditional but it ALL worked and people loved our processional

I don't think it's very epic but we are using "This is the First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes.  So sweet and very non-traditional.
