We are going to Japan for our first anniversary and plan on walking A LOT! I usually wear my (neon) Asics gym shoes, but was looking for something…more adult? I don’t even know where to start! What brands do you wear? are they supportive? did they take ‘breaking in’? Thank you for your help!

I wear Dansko clogs pretty much all year once it gets cold. When I lived in Philadelphia, I routinely walked miles a day, and I never got blisters or sore feet. THey’re expensive, but on Amazon you can usually find deals.
And really, the ones I wear are Sanita Clogs, which are the same as Danskos but made in Europe instead of China.

Does anyone have experience with Merrells?

I wear Saucony’s everywhere: http://www.zappos.com/saucony-originals-bullet-vegan-black-grey~2
But I’ve been looking for a dressier walking shoe. So I’m mainly commenting to follow this thread 🙂

When I was in Vienna I bought a pair of Ecco Cheja sandals and they were excellent for lots of touring in hot hot HOT weather. I also like my Sperry Top Sider Bluefish loafers, but I haven’t taken them on a trip yet, so I can’t vouch for them for that.

Not personally (except for flip flops – which were very comfortable) but I know a ton of nurses that SWEAR bY Merrells. I used to work in a shoe store that sold them and they were definitely built to support!

@edgebee: when I was in collehe I worked in a shoe dept at the dept store…which was only last year haha. I am the queen of wearing cute but not comfortable shoes but broke down and bought black merrel flats last year. They were relatively cute and so comfortable! I even “drunken mistankenly” wore them out on NYE!

I am obsessed with Merrells! I wear them non-stop. They are the best shoe brand ever! I worked 3 years as a camp counselor and I was always on my feet, running all over the place and hiking. My Merrells lasted all 3 seasons! And I still wear them today! They will last you a long time and they are so comfy. I always get the sandals because my feet get really hot and they are plenty durable for hiking. You will love them!
