Ok so here it goes. I felt like I took a huge leap of faith having Walmart do our cake because I couldn’t find anything on them from the boards. Hopefully this helps someone.
Looks: See above. I was pleased – no its not fondanct, its butter cream and it will not be perfect. But I thought it was cute and so much better than anyone in my family could do. I increased the contrast in this photo to show off the detail better but in real life the imperfections were hard to spot, its all white!
Price: I think it was $130 so pretty cheap but not free. Cake was not a huge priorty for me so I didnt want to spend Whole Food’s $8 a slice. This cake was about $1 a slice.
Ease: Once I got to speak with the head baker it was very quick and easy to order. I would call ahead and see what the head baker’s hours are. Take in pictures to include with the order form. Our cake had the middle tier from their cake catalog and the other teirs from a photo I saw online. I felt like they listened to what I wanted and Delivered. Obviously this varies from location to location. You have to pick the cake up the day of the wedding, which my mom’s fiance was happy to do for us. Obviously if this is an issue I wouldn’t recommend.
Taste: Sugary, basic but moist. I liked it and other people give compliments on it. If you go into the store they will give you a little cupcake to sample, or at least they did at my store – again it varies.
Overall: It depends on what you are expecting…..If you drool over ornate fondant cakes and have the budget to get one you won’t be happy. However if you are looking for a budget option and can’t/don’t want to take on making a cake of your own. I would absolutely say go for it. I would do it again.

When i went to my walmart they made it seem like they can only make the cakes that are in the books. I was also talking to a young girl, so maybe she was wrong. Can i just bring in pictures of cakes and they will work with me?

Thanks for the review! We are ordering a WalMart cake as well – cake was a priority for me, but was easy to cut when the budget was cut. The WM book actually had a cake that I fell in love with – it has gumpaste flowers, and the decor will be very simple.

I got mine from Walmart too! They honestly did a great job for it based on the price– similar to yours. Moist, definitely not super flavorful. THey did beautiful sugar flowers on mine… Arg, I keep trying to load it, but WB won’t let me 🙁 I’ll keep trying

I had a very small budget. Small wedding party but lots of guests for cake and punch only. I used Sams Club. They do not do wedding cakes, but I got three rounds which my sisters put on crystal cake plates we already had in the family. They then put them on three different size boxes covered with a table cloth. (for the tiered effect) It was beautiful! I also got two or three sheet cakes. All for $132.00. Servings for 250,
All my guests raved about the presentation and the taste.
