Have fun! i love DW. Make sure to buy some of those minnie mouse bride ears! We flew to our wedding/honeymoon through orlando, and we made a special trip to the monorail for our last day of the honeymoon, b/c my DH loves them so much :)
I'm going for my honeymoon too! Our honeymoon will be 10/10-10/15. I've never been to DW before, but my fiance has been there a few times. We didn't qualify for free dining because our week was blacked out though! Of course!
I wish we were staying at a more "honeymoon-y" resort, but we've decided to be economical and stay at Pop Century, where we aren't even guaranteed a king bed. The resort looks fun though, and totally us, so I'm not disappointed. But it would have been nice to get a moderate resort at least! (My first pick would be the Boardwalk though!)
I have friends who are Disney fanatics and have been there close to 30 times, so I've gotten ideas and hints from them. So far I've booked us dinner at 'Ohana and Chef Mickeys. Oh, and we've also gotten tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. LOL. We've got to come up costume ideas now.
Nobody has thought anything negative about us honeymooning at DW. My family is jealous because I'll actually be the first person in my immediate family to go! And my friends that I just mentioned also went for their honeymoon, so they think it's great.
And we're totally doing the Mickey/Minnie ears and the Just Married pins. I've been listening to podcasts and visiting allears.net to prepare. I think I know more about DW than my fiance now, and he's been there twice. ;-)
Yes! We are going to Disney World for our honeymoon and are sooo excited! :) No one has said anything negative, but I think a few people were wondering why we were going there... I don't care what they think, though, because I love DW and can't wait! I really wanted to do the Spirit of Aloha dinner show, but I don't think that is going to happen... we are doing the HoopDeeDoo Musical Revue though... not very honeymoonish, but we are still looking forward to it. :)
I just wanted to say how jealous I am. I love Disney world. Probably more than is healthy for a 30 year old woman. I tried to get FI to extend our layover in Miami (on our way to Belize) for a few days so we could go to WDW and the new Harry Potter park at Universal, but he wouldn't. So sad.
@r elizabeth: The Hoop De Doo is SOOOO much fun! The food is terrific!
Oh and if you're looking for a break from the typical food there (which I find really lacks healthy options), there's an amazing cafeteria style restaurant in Epcot in The Land pavillion called "Sunshine Season Food Fair" that's really well priced. It's basically one of the few spots you can get a salad or a slice of quiche. Next time we go, I think we'll be going over to Epcot every day to eat lunch there! Plus you can go on Soarin' possibly the best ride ever made at Disney :)
haha @bakerella. That is too funny about wanting to extend your layover on your way to a vacation! We are talking about going down next year to visit Universal (yay Harry Potter!) and Sea World- I've never been to either. I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed the HoopDeeDoo show too! I keep hearing that it is fun, and I guess I went in 3rd grade, but don't remember it. :(
We got married at WDW just last month!!!! We spent out honeymoon there too and it was an amazing time, I wouldn't have wanted to spend it anywhere else! We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, which is a really beautiful resort. Disney gives amazing treatment to newly weds...I think it's a fantastic place to honeymoon. We are also going for our 1 year anniversary!
Make sure to ask for and wear your "just married" buttons!! You can get a lot of special treatment when they find out you're newly weds, like possibly getting on rides with no wait, free desserts at Disney restaurants, and a whole bunch of "congratulations!".

Thanks for all the replys and input, everyone!
We are so very excited, too! My were vacationing there last Oct 09 when my FI proposed at WDW, so that is why we decided to honeymoon there, too.
We currently have reservations at Pop Century, although I am seriously leaning towards upgrading to Port Orleans/French Quarter just for the "romance" factor-lol.
We are doing the "Deluxe DDP" and I *think* I have all our ADR's set, including 2 character meals and at least one "sit down" restaurant a day, sometimes 2....trying to take full advantage of that meal plan! Too bad we missed the "Free DDP" offer by 2 days, though! Ugh....still a little irked about that as it would have been almost a $500 savings.
I have already bought our "Wedding Mouse Ears" as I wanted our photographer to get a couple of photos w/us wearing them at the reception.....just for the kitsch factor. Our wedding colors are black and white damask, w/red and silver accents, so I HAD to add some silver "hidden Mickey's", of course! Lol!
Our wedding invites even have little Mickey's on them...they are from a really nice etsy seller and it turns out that her husband is a chef at "Chef Mickey's" and her daughter is the manager the Cinderella's Table restaurant at MK!
Here are the invites (this is her sample...not our actual invites, but mine are almost the same.....just silver instead of the gold, the black ribbon, etc.):

Do I look like a total loon doing the Mickey's? I really am trying to keep them subtle.....all the ones for the wedding are small (like dime to quarter size) and are silver or clear jeweled. I don't want it to look like a "Mickey Wedding", but do want to add them as sort of an "homage" to the fact that we were engaged at the World and are honeymooning there.
What do you think? Well, thanks again for all the great input.
My FI and I are going to Disneyworld in mid September for vacation, we're seasoned Disneyland pros but this will be our first time at WDW! On travelocity we were able to book the Port Orleans French Quarter for the price of a value resort (i.e. pop century), maybe this might be an option for you too.
Also when I was planning our ADR's I found allears.net extremely useful, they have all the menus for each the restaurents. I also heavily relied on mouseplanet.com, their forums have great discussions about WDW from trip reports to general stuff on the parks.
We have almost the same plan! We are staying at Pop on our honeymoon this Dec, too and we did the MNSSHP, too, last October......it was so fun!
Tons of costumes and a fabulous special Halloween parade and fireworks! The Halloween decor is just fabulous, too, especially at night. We had a very good time.
And it's one of the few times of the year that you get to see some characters out in the park, like Snow White and all the Seven Dwarfs and Buzz Lightyear/Woody, etc.! They only bring out those guys for special events like this.
And they also have a "Haunted Hayride" at the Fort Wilderness resort, too, I think. We didn't get to do it, but it sounds like fun, too.
Have a wonderful and magical WDW honeymoon!
Thanks for the idea of buying the Mickey/Minnie ears ahead of time so we can have the photographer get a few shots of us in them! I hadn't thought of that.
Glad to hear that about MNSSHP! It was a splurge for us. Halloween is my most favorite holiday, so I love that we're incorporating a bit of it in on our honeymoon.
I forgot to mention, when we check out on Friday, Oct. 15th we're hoping to go to Universal to check out Harry Potter too.
Whenever I tell my fiance how excited I am he always asks, "Are you excited we're getting married or excited because we're going to Disney World?"
@getwiggly: I love your invites! I think if you're getting married at WDW, why would you skip that in your invites/decor?! It sounds like you're doing it in a really nice way, not in a kid's birthday party-type way.
Oh my gosh, can someone invite me to their WDW wedding just so I can go?! I'm getting excited reading about all these! LOL! Or I also had an evil idea that I'm going to book us to go down within a year and tell them it's a delayed honeymoon (it sort of would be since FI wouldn't let me have MY part of the HM!) and get some of the perks ;)
@October4040: LOL! Your FH and mine sound very very similar!
We're not going to WDW for our honeymoon, but we are going to be in Orlando. We're planning on Universal/SeaWorld/WetNWild. Maybe one night we'll head over to Epcot or something. :)
we're going to disney for our honeymoon. we weren't going to go on any honeymoon, but when the 40% off codes came out, i was sold. we're staying at the wilderness lodge (which we've stayed at once before, our first vacation together 3 years ago, and loved!). i also booked facials for us at the mandara spa at the dolphin (it'll be his first spa treatment, i hope he likes it!). we're having some fancy dinners this time and trying places that we've never eaten at before, like the california grill and artist's point. we're not going to be spending a lot of time in the parks, just the 1 or 2 days that we have dining reservations in parks.
we didn't want to do the dining plan, only because we have reservations mainly at restaurants where we'd have to use 2 ts credits. we're also not huge eaters and can't eat 3 meals a day. we're also fortunate that we have some gift cards to use for meals and my fi's mom is paying for our room as our wedding gift.
my parents loved the fact that we were going to disney (it made it easier for them to get us a wedding present, gift cards!). they brought my sister and i there almost every year when we were young. i've had some people be like, "you're going to disney? you want to spend your honeymoon with a bunch of kids?" they have no idea how much disney actually has to offer where kids aren't involved much. in fact, my fi and i want to relax and do things like play mini golf or spend a whole day at the pool instead of going to the parks.
only a month left for us now!
@r_elizabeth - we ate at hoop-dee-doo this past march, when we visited my sister in the college program and we had an awesome time! the food is good and the sangrias are wicked strong. my mom and i were really tipsy at the end of the night after drinking only 2! the cast come out and goof around with the diners. i got to dance with one of the guys in the show because my sister decided she wanted to tell him that i was celebrating my engagement (my fiance wasn't there, he had to stay home for school). it was hilarious.
@iggies: Fiance and I will be at the Wilderness Lodge the second week of August for our honeymoon! I cannot wait! Looking forward to wearing the ears and pins (We bought the ears 6 months ago!) Yeah Disney honeymoons!
@chrislyn94: nice! we'll be there a week and a half after you! i'm really looking forward to it myself. we just booked the around the world at epcot segway tour, which should be awesome. have a great time!
I will be there the week before you! I am so excited as well!
So far the only plans we have are breakfast with Mickey lol.
But I also posted about this and tons of people gave me some great ideas if you want to check that out.
Mostly suggestions that you should get the ears and the pins so everyone knows you are there on your honeymoon!
Also I heard somewhere down the line that you can send an invitation to Mickey and Minnie Mouse and they will send you some sort of momento as a response... I thought this was a cool idea since we are going there...
When did they extend the dining plan inclusion because I just booked last weekend and they didn't tell me this info...
evne though i'm a former cast member i'm going on my honeymoon there jan 9th -15th yay plus i still get cast member discounts hells yeah
@iggies:i was in the college program too and now i'm a campus rep for my school which school is your sis at??
haha @iggies! Agree- the sangrias are strong! I had some fruity drink before the show and had one sangria and that was plenty haha. The Hoop Dee Doo was so much fun and my husband (that seems so weird to be saying "husband!"), who didn't think he would like it, had a great time also. The ribs were awesome! They had my husband and I stand up and dance to celebrate our honeymoon. It was a really fun time. :)
@ashleykaye15: my sister is kind of in-between schools at the moment. my parents just moved delaware to another state and my sister was going to a community college in delaware.

Just wondering how many of us are out there?
We are honeymooning at the World in December (4th-12th) of this year for 9 days/8 nights and can't wait!
Who else is gonna be there? Do you have any special honeymoon plans/events planned for while you are there?
On another note......what have others thought of you honeymooning there when they found out? Some of my extended family thinks we are just silly to be honeymooning at WDW and have given us some flack about it, but most of our friends think it's great! How about you?
BTW.....is everyone aware that they have just extended the free dining plan offer thru December? It's a GREAT deal if your trip falls in the dates it's available!
Everyone have a Magical Honeymoon!
<wishing they had Mouse ears to add to my emoticon smiley face up there....hehehe!>
