I purchased perfectly good jacket... walked out with perfectly good jacket.... get home and the SECURITY FRIGGEN TAG IS STILL ON....

not happy and now googling ways to get it off because im so annoyed that I do not want to go back there. Even tho I have reciept

Anyone have this happen to them?

I blame dumb checkout chick... :S and blame myself also for because im that stubborn and dont want to go back!

tell ya being stubborn is not necessarily a good quality!

I know you don't want to but go back to the store.

You don't want to damage the jacket in anyway by trying to get it off yourself.

I understand your frustration - that sucks!

YES! I hate that!  I went to Kohl's once and bought a few new outfits and a crock pot for my mom.  When I was at the checkout they told me that the crock pot tends to set off the alarm at the door, so I shouldn't worry about it.  I walked out, set off the alarm, but they told me it was because of the crock pot so I left and went home.  Turns out it was NOT the crock pot that set off the alarm, but rather the 4 outfits that still had security tags on them.  Yell

To make it even worse, when I went back with my receipt to ask them to please take off the tags they left on they accused me of stealing them.  Yes crazy customer service lady, I bought all these things (see the receipt??) then I stole the exact same things and asked you to take the tags off.

An hour and a half that's brutal!

Do you know what I would do if I were really mad! I would call them up and bitch at them for their mistake and let them know the inconvenience it is for me to come back to the store. Hopefully, they give you something for your trouble ;-)

Hey - the squeeky wheel gets the oil!!!!!! hehe

You can try taking it to a closer store (any clothing store in the mall) and explain to them what happened. You can probably find someone there to remove the tag. When I worked in retail clothing, I'd remove tags for people if they had the receipt from the store of purchase.

However I am being persistant and can see success coming round the corner.. im determined to get this thing off... new challenge.

btw its 9.20pm here and I have about 7 new outfits that took about 2hrs of choosing time! but one jacket with a stupid tag... im glad its not all the outfits!

    STOP!

Those tags are usually filled with dye. They make a MESS when they explode, I've seen them exploded when people tried to remove them in the dressing rooms. They permenently stain the article of clothing and everything around it (walls, floor, etc.).

    i hate that!

i bought something at a victorias secret not too long ago, then realized it still had the security tag on it. i took it back to a different vs that was closer to my house, and they couldn't take it off because they use different tags. it was ridiculous.

This happened to me before, too!  I didn't notice until I was in Florida, on vacation.  I didn't have the receipt either, but since the Pittsburgh store scanned my frequent shopper card, they were able to look up the purchase and take off the tag.  Still a pain!  Hope you can remove it on your own.

@daydreamwanderer: Wow! That was an exciting read! Laughing Though some of the comments made it even more easier. I.e. burning off the top and releasing the pin.

My mom bought some stuff about an hour away from our house, and WM ended up taking the tags off for her.  LOL.

The store I work in has the ones with the ink in them. I have seen what happens when someone tries to take them off by themselves. Usually, they show back up and want to return the destroyed merchandise.
