Can you have them wear same colored ties? Something that goes with your wedding colors. Or a very unique boutonnière.
@precie: that's an interesting idea! Our colors are black and white, and the groomsmen are wearing black ties....however our accent color(that I'm not using too much b/c I like b&w better) is red....perhaps we could have them do Red ties!
I am having my dad and brother wear the same time and pocket square as the groomsmen so people can see that we consider them to be a part of our bridal party.
I do like your idea of having them wear your accent color though. Very nice!
My groomsmen were in tuxes with teal ties/vests and my husband's dad wore a red tie/vest with my husband wearing an ivory tie/vest to match me. It looked quite nice and the colors went well. Oh, the gentleman who walked me down the aisle wore a silver tie/vest. It sounds a bit busy, but it actually looked very good together.
Do you want something more than a boutonnière or are you not doing bout's?
I do like the red tie idea though!
@Lady: I was thinking about doing pocket squares. I'm just not sure how to incorporate them with the ties. are they supposed to be a different pattern and/or color? the boys are wearing plain black ties, so I was thinking white-ish pocket squares. or will that look like a handkerchief?
@ future: I'm thinking about not doing bout's since I'm DIYing the flowers. I just don't think I want to go there with trying to make them, and wrap them, and keep them alive, esp since I'm doing white and I can just see the flowers turning brown.
Pull a Britney Spears and bedazzle tha back with "Pimp Daddy"? Kiddind...we're having special bouts made for the dads and grandpas and special corsages for the moms and grandmas. They'll also be in a different tie than the groomsman.
Maybe you can do the red ties for them and pocket sqares. May sound cheesy, but a tie that has all three colors?? black, white, and red. Just a thought.
Our colors are navy blue and green but I wanted to wear red shoes (it's kind of my signature thing). So I bought my dad a red tie and dyed my shoes to match the tie. He is so excited and feels so cool that he and I will be the only ones wearing red. The bridesmaids and groomsmen will be wearing the navy and green.

So my FI just got off the phone with his father who is wondering what I want him and my father to wear to "stand out". My original idea is to get them both customized red converse that we are getting for the groomsmen. They both come from the generation where these were very big, and I know they will both love them, however, they BOTH have wide feet and I'm afraid the shoes won't fit (I already emailed converse, no wide sizes available in the style I want). But....this idea is still on the table.
FI's dad says he would like to wear a white golfers hat and I am thinking...not exactly what I was thinking. LOL. dads are funny.
SO what I need/want from you bees is some other ideas on what I could do to help the dads feel special.
