I think I would clean it. I don't think a lot of people will want to buy a dress that hasn't been cleaned since they will need to do it themselves later.
I would take some really good photos of it (or use your wedding photos if you can) and post it on used wedding dress websites. From what I've read, you won't get much for it on eBay (most girls are looking for really cheap deals), and it will take upwards of a year to sell it. List it now. If you get any inquiries, you can discuss cleaning it with the seller, or mention in your listing that it will need a cleaning, or list it now and clean it later.
My wedding was moved from Spring 2012..to Oct 23, 2011 and I've yet to find a dress that works. Talk about crunch time!!! Depending on the size & cost..I may be willing to purchase your gown as is.

Curious - what did you end up doing? I apologize that I have no advice...especially since I'm looking for advice myself! Our wedding is coming up this Sunday (July 3) and am also thinking of selling/donating my dress. Not sure what the best option would be.
I'm buying a "pre-loved" gown and the bride knocked off a couple hundred bucks so I can get it cleaned. It will need to be pressed before the wedding anyways, so I can do it all at once. Most gowns that were actually worn to a wedding will have some dust on the underside, and it's not really noticable anyways. The new bride may decide it's not worth the money and not bother with prof. cleaning anyways, so I say it's fine not to clean it first. Just be honest when you post your listing, and tell them you will discount it a bit. No biggie.
@LittleDee27: Thanks for the feedback! Just curious, how did you go about looking for your gown?
@FruitPatch: I scan the "pre-owned" websites (and classifieds here on WB) pretty much every day. Because I live in Alaska, and we don't have any "real" bridal boutiques for 500 miles, I don't really have many options. I always thought I would want a used one, or a sample, because I have champagne tastes on a beer budget! I bought a dress early on I thought I wanted but decided to sell her and get one that makes me swooooooon! My fave websites are: preownedweddingdresses.com, reccycledbride.come, bravobride.com, and onceloved.com. If you have a great price on your dress, I'm sure you can sell it! Good luck!

Hello to the Hive!
I am looking for opinions/suggestions/advice about selling my wedding dress.
I have a Maggie Sottero "Jenna" dress that I wore 5/7/11. I purchased the dress for about $1100. The dress is pretty clean with the expception of the bottom hem in the back underneath the dress. It got pretty dirty from walking around the wedding day. However, the dress was bustled the entire time so the train is completely clean. There are no other stains on the dress.
My dilemma is that I am really, really, REALLY tight on money right now (DH still woefully underemployed so we're barely surviving). I am sure it will be a couple hundred dollars to dry clean the dress. Unfortunately, I just don't have that type of money to spare right now.
Should I just try and sell the dress 'as is' on eBay (or WB) for a few hundred dollars? Or should I wait (and wait) until I have money to properly clean the dress and then try to sell for $500-$600 bucks?
Appreciate your constructive thoughts!
