I love my engagement ring, but wanted to see if it would be possible to narrow the band a bit. I asked my fiance if he minded, and he said it was no prob. He had initially asked the jeweler if it could be narrowed, and they said I might not like it thinner. Well, they were wrong!
My original band with 2.7mm yellow gold band:
My new ring profile, exact same ring, 1.7mm yellow gold band:
I am blown away by how this tiny change has made me LOVE my ring more than I ever dreamed was possible! I was home for Thanksgiving, and stopped by the jeweler who made my ring in Annapolis, MD- Adore Jewelers. They said it would be no problem. I dropped my ring off at 3pm, and picked it up at 6pm, and the best part of all: it was free!
If any bees have been looking to see about narrowing their metal bands, I hope this will give you some ideas. Here is another comparison with my future wedding band:
OLD 2.7mm engagement ring band + 1.8mm wedding band:
NEW, 1.7mm engagement ring band + 1.8mm future wedding band:
The change is subtle, but makes a huge difference to me. It bothered me that my engagement ring was thicker than my wedding band, and I wanted them to be more similar. I wanted thin and delicate, and now I think I have it! It also makes my stones appear bigger, which is a nice perk!

Oops, this probably should have gone on the ring board!

Oooh I love it! The difference is amazing! It was lovely before, but it does look just perfect in your set now! And how cool to have not had to entirely reset your ring!

Congratulations – so happy you like the result!
I have the exact opposite issue though, albeit with a solitaire. While I love how the thin shank looks (mine is supposedly 2mm, but I think it’s actually thinner than that, and it tapers to even less at the bottom), it’s SO uncomfortable! Not only does it spin from side to side, it also flips up and down, and the flipping drives me NUTS. So I’ll probably eventually change the setting to something wide at the bottom and tapering at the stone. 🙂

What a difference! So gorg!

It looks great! I did the same with my ering, went from 4mm to 3mm. It is amazing how much more your stones pop and are the highlight of the show!

I have thought of doing the same thing with my 3 stone!! What size diamonds do you have? Wondering if mine would look the same
