So I'm pretty sad to write this - with my first, last, and only dress fitting exactly 2 weeks away - that I haven't lost any weight for my wedding.  I'm not that big in the first place - maybe 5-7 lbs overweight - but I just feel disappointed in myself.  Plus, I'm only 5'1 and to lose 1lb is a huge struggle.  I do plan on working out and 100% watching what I eat and drink in the next 2 weeks to hopefully lose at least 3 lbs, but I'm just sad that I didn't do it sooner.  I was trying this summer (I know I should've tried harder) but time went by SO fast that I can't believe my wedding is less than a month away and here I am.

I do, however, have to admit that my legs and arms are a bit more toned then they once were.  So that is the positive...but hopefully my arms will be a bit better in 2 weeks?

My question is - has anyone else experienced this?  Wanting to lose weight and didn't?  Or, has anyone else actually lost those last few pounds in the home stretch of 2 weeks?  I joke hoping that I'll lose weight due to stress, but then I also think that I EAT when I'm stressed.  Chocolate, preferably!! :(

Ok deep breath. I plataued like 3 months before my wedding. Stuck. Absolutely stuck. Body said "no!"

I went on a low low sodium diet about 5 days before the wedding. I lost 7 pounds of water weight so quickly it wasn't funny. I looked slimmer than I ever thought I could be on my weddding day! Of course, it was very very temporary. But b/c i wasn't eating sodium, broccoli, soda, beans, anything gassy, anything salty, etc, I was not bloated or gassy either and just felt a lot better. the 7 lb water weight loss was just a smidgen of a bonus =].

Did you follow a certain plan to do that?  I'm just so clueless when it comes to salty foods, gassy foods, etc.

oh i love corn with butter and salt...mmmm

yes, it was kind of a boring diet. I had bland oatmeal every day for breakfast--a little honey and/or brown sugar. Also coffee, equal and non-dairy creamer. Every day. If i needed a snack, I ate greek yogurt with honey. Very filling. For lunch it was a steamed vegetable and chicken. Plain grilled chicken with a little olive oil and some "safe" seasoning--no onion or garlic. I had cumin or ginger or oregano/basil/rosemary. It got old, i'm not gonna lie =]. I used vinegars in my marinades, too. My veggie was like, carrots and spinach. Salads can bloat you too so i stayed away from those. Also zucchinis and squashes were good choices. For dinner I usually ate a bowl of cereal or yogurt or chicken or tofu veggie stir fry again. Kinda boring, but it's ONLY for 5 days. I also would throw in a high-protein shake--milk or water, protein powder, and fruit. Don't overdo the fruit or you can get bloated too.

That's what I did and it worked for me. My friend taught me the ropes basically and she was a pro cheerleader! She used to have to do it for 2 weeks leading up to photoshoots b/c that's how long it takes to get rid of cellulite apparently. I tried to stay under 500 mg a day.

    Oh sweetie! BIG HUGS!!

I'm overweight and we have been having a weight loss contest at work and I was going to try to get down 20 pounds so that when I go in for my fitting it would be a full size - I just would LOVE to have them say they have to take it in a full size.  It wouldn't mess up the dress and I would feel really great.  Of course, I had my birthday in there and summer vacation and friends from out of town visiting and happy hours and BBQs.

BUT - The past 2 weeks I have been really good and no, the weight number hasn't gone down a ton, but my clothing is WAY loose - this is what we all want, though, right?

So, just make small changes that you know you will be able to stick to until the big day and go for it!

I know you can do it!! Are you able to go walking with friends or anything?  Fitness magazine has some really great work out programs that you can do in your house without having to buy anything.

I know it's hard, but I know you can do it!!

Keep it up and send us photos to show off your success!!

I don't think you should be disappointed in yourself!  a healthy diet, to me, is a lifestyle change, not just a 2 week thing to do so you can unhealthily lose weight!  if anything, immediate, drastic changes in your diet are probably going to make you irritable, and probably more disappointed after those 5-6 pounds come back the day after you begin eating "normally" again.

just my thoughts.. and good luck with whatever you decide to do :)

GI is right - you should be proud of yourself for making a lifestyle change! Have you been working out? You may be the same weight because you've developed more muscle. If you really want to lose those 5-7 pounds, you have time - but will your dress still fit?

Cut out all soft drinks - diet or otherwise - the sodium will bloat you. Don't eat overly processed foods, and eat low sugar. Drink water like it's going out of style. And be proud of yourself for the changes you have seen! That's a great thing! :)

I'm sure you look gorgeous and beautiful at the weight you are!   Chasing an idealized vision of perfection is a frustrating game-- and it's really depressing to carry around the negative energy of feeling disappointed in yourself, and feeling like a failure, and feeling that you should've worked harder.

You're human.  And it sounds like you're already at a wonderfully healthy weight, which makes the "extra" so much harder to lose.  So please just cut yourself a bit of slack.  Wedding dresses are built to make us look amazing-- when you slip into it at your fitting, you will look stunning!

Don't be sad, be happy!  You're getting married in 2 weeks!!  And I'm sure you are beautiful... and NO ONE at your wedding will even think "oh, she should have lost those last 5-7 lbs"... ENJOY YOUR MOMENT!  :)

So sorry to hear your problem, but always remember to keep a positive attitude even if you are not losing weight as much as you wanted.
