I don’t think asking for input about the bridesmaid dress would be a big deal… especially if you two aren’t using the same colors/theme.  I think you should go for it!  It doesn’t seem like a thunder-stealing move to me.  It’s definitely better to get some things out of the way before you have to head back to school.  :o)

As long as she and her BMs already have dresses chosen, I say it’s ok to send that email. Just don’t go TOO overboard and finish all your planning before her wedding starts, and make sure you are there for her when she needs you 🙂

@keepsmiling19:I honestly don’t think you asking about wedding details is “stealing your cousin’s thunder” in any way! She knows you’re planning, surely she wouldn’t take any offense to that! Right??

And I promise, the more things you can have out of the way earlier, the better of you’ll be and feel.

As long as you handle things tactfully I don’t see why there would be an issue.  You are getting married in a year, I think your cousin should understand that it is time for you start getting your planning underway!
