A lot of brides do this, there’s nothing wrong with it. 🙂 If you love the dress, get it!

Totally! I would have, but I just wanted the “wedding gown shopping experience.”  Wear whatever makes you happy and from WHEREVER! 🙂

Yeah! There are lots of places to get dresses that aren’t wedding dresses. It’s about how you feel, not where it came from.

i think the whole idea of the “bridal gown” is that it’s supposed to be something that makes you feel AWESOME.  if a trash bag does that, wear it.

Lots of people! Mine is being made by a friend, but otherwise I would have considered doing this.  Have you picked one out yet? Can we see pics? 🙂

Absolutely nothing wrong with that.  If you find a dress you love anywhere you should wear it!

Oooh, I saw the most gorgeous white prom dress at Von Maur one day, and it would have been perfect as a wedding dress. I wanted a very sparkly ballgown, so I went the traditional route, but there are some gorgeous options out there!

My dress was from BCBG and i absolutely loved it! There are tons of beautiful white or ivory dresses that are not from a bridal store, as well as beautiful white BM dresses.

I just bought my dress from Lord and Taylor a couple of weeks ago! I much preferred going to a regular store than a bridal store, plus i was able to get a great deal on my dress because Lord and Taylor always has coupons, so I got 20% off, then opened a card for another 15% off.

It is REAL silk, has an amazing structure inside, and has the most beautiful intricate details on the bodice. It is leaps and bounds above other dresses I tried at that price point!

So technically, my dress is from a bridal shop, but it’s a bridesmaid dress. I can’t wait for it to arrive!

I have a white dress from BCBG, and can’t wait to wear it! If you don’t want the train or bustle, it is SO much less expensive to go with a normal store. I also tried a bunch from Nordstrom’s and Macy’s, which looked like great places to buy beautiful and affordable dresses!

I would have done that, but I decided I wanted to feel really bridal (especially cuz the gown I went with isn’t super traditional as it is – it’s a tea length style). I think you should go with whatever you want most though.

I got my dress from a little boutique. I’m not a big white dress type of person, so it was perfect for me.
