What do you mean screening their customer support? Lots of places will record customer support conversations so a manager can listen and check up on the customer service reps. Is that what you are talking about?
Sorry should have been more clear. They have an icon that says someone is online.. I was supposed to recieve my pics yesterday (well this is a month after they told me I'd get them the first time) so I went online today to ask why i still had not recieved them. To get support you type your name and question. Nobody would answer me and it said nobody was available. However, suspecting this was the case, I changed my name and question to just wanting to buy a dress and was immediately provided assitance.. how frustrating. I am currently "on hold" so to speak...
update* even though I was promised pics this week (and I have the chat to prove it!) they say it has still not been arranged for my test dress to have been made!!! I placed my order in Jan., OMG...
yikes! I hate to say this, but I would start thinking of back up plans if I were you... But then again my dress isn't scheduled to come in until early May, and my wedding is about the same time as yours. Best of luck, and keep on them! Now that they know you've got their number, hopefully they'll start to prioritize your order.
They are giving me a little of the run around, too. I even paid extra to have it rushed and they are still saying it will be 2 months.
I just got done talking to them and their time for me has changed from the beginning of May to the beginning of June, which is cutting it close! Their customer service is usually fantastic, but the woman just told me that they are busier than expected.
It is so nerve racking to just have to trust that it will make it here and actually be what I want and fit correctly!
Thanks guys.. feels nice to know there are people supporting me. I just don't want others to get into this situation. I have been thinking about back-up otions for sure, but hope it doesn't come to this.
Marci, I wish you all the luck too. I just wish they would have been more realistic about the time frame up front and I would have ordered sooner. I would also know what to expect rather than getting told something and it not happening. Makes it harder to trust that it will all turn out that way.
I promise to keep ya all updated, and would love to hear your expirience as well :)
ugh, I know! Initially they seemed so wonderful and optimistic that my dress would be here within 45 days. (Even though I paid for 18 day service- I guess that should have been a clue.) I hate to say bad things because they have been really nice and helpful, but I feel like I've been lied to. Definitely should have ordered sooner. I hate to have to look into other options because I love my dress and I'm not sure we can afford the real deal. I'll keep you posted too, and there are also some great threads on Project Wedding.
GonnaBMrsB - So after a few curt emails about having my dress on time, they switched my rep from Annie to a Bella? She asked for the absolute latest date to have the dress. Theire customer service is really nice, I still am a little upset but this is what she told me:
Becasue of the long Spring holiday and the big wedding dress season, much to be regret , we are unable to complete your dress on time .Could you please kindly note the deadtime to receive the dress ? We will arrange a new and clear production list according to your deadtime and we promise the dress will be finished before your deadtime. Now we really need your help about this. Thanks very very much!
Every one from Milly Bridal is so grateful for your understanding and support with us and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience!
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.Thanks!
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Jessica&Bella
...After that I replied I had to have the dress by the end of May at the latest and she sent me a contract this time saying that the dress would be done and shipped on May 20. We will see! I am hopeful...
i'm always interested about people experience with online customized dresses.
if i were you i would tell milly's bridal to throw in free veil and tiara AND refund you the rush-fee you paid for! good luck and hope you'll get it ontime
Milly's just took on way too much and now are struggling. Soooo many people are getting the same emails (Are you guys on the Project Wedding Milly group too?) When they take the time, the work is gorgeous. You really need to leave the at least 6 months lately.
I was totally going to go with Milly until I started seeing the problems around the New Year break, so I went with another company, ordered my dress Feb 25 and will have it in my hands Friday or Monday.
Hi ladies,
Yes - it seems like Milly Bridal is having a LOT of issues right now. I'm actually the group owner of the Milly Bridal group on ProjectWedding and can honestly say that my dress was NOT worth the headache. In hindsight I wish I had just sucked it up and just PICKED a dress off the rack.
I hope that your experience turns out better than mine..I'm sorry they're being so difficult right now. Hopefully with this new addition to their team (I believe they switched from Annie to Bella or Jessica or something) they'll be able to better manage their custom dresses..b/c right now they freaken stink at it!
Ugh, I am waiting. today is the day I was absolutely promised by "Jessica" that I'd have pics of my dress.... I know that technically it is thursday in China so I am a little skeptical already. I know it is about 3 am there so I am waiting till business hours to be too worried. I am suppper stressed out about this whole process. It sucks that if one doesn't want to pay almost a 1000 dollars for a dress that fits you have to deal with all of this. Steph you will have to let us know about how your ress turns out when you have it, maybe I'll cancel my order and order from there. I did give myself over 6 months I ordere in January. The problem for me is that they are not following the timeline they laid out. When I ordered in January they promised pics by March. Now that it is April and I still don't have it it makes me worry that I'll get my dress in time. If they would have originally told me I wouldn't get pics till April I wouldn't be so worried. I promise to keep you al updated. As much as I feel for all of you, it kinda makes me feel better to know that I am not alone. The bottom line is that this is not okay to do to brides, and not a good way to run a business, we need to make sure they understand that.
GonnaB - Did you get your test dress pictures yet? Or is that what you're waiting for?
If you're still waiting for your test dress then I say YES - cancel your order and get a back-up! Another girl on PW placed her order in November and they pushed her dress order so far back she got it just a few days ago (DAYS before her wedding)....her dress is NOT right and she has to have a number of last minute alterations done (she said that there isn't even enough time to really alter the dress properly since Milly Bridal didn't make her dress properly...)
Still waiting on the test pics! It is hard because I don't really know what a good back up plan is.. there isn't really enough time to go the traditional route :( I have my mom's old wedding dress, but I just don't love it and know I won't be happy wearing it. I figure they should be online by 6pm Pacific time... this is what will make me have to decide I guess.... I am totally on edge till then, I can't even think about anything else and the minutes are ticking by sooo slow. The girl who ordered in Nov gave them about 6 mnths, which is a normal time range (although not even close to what Milly claims they can do), I really think they just need to tell brides it will take 6mnths...
ALL -- I wish you the BEST OF LUCK with Milly Bridal. Both for your sake, and for theirs. I have heard their dresses are great quality, but they won't get very far with this service!!
I am still more than likely going to order my dress from them, but I have 18 months and am planning on ordering it within the next 4 months, so hopefully I will be okay!
Let us all know how your dresses turn out if/when you get them! I love to see pics and hear reviews!!
I used Milly Bridal...and I will say it was frustrating...but worth it in the end.
I am very happy with my dress and its quality. I had them combine 3 differnt designer gowns into 1 cohesive look and they did a very good job....But it took FOREVER...seriously...i think my dress was 3-4 months later than it was supposed to be.
I did insist that they include the crinoline for free. and you must be very clear spoken when giving them directions. I would only suggest going through them if you are a detail oriented patient person lol
Still no pictures, and getting the run around... later I will post my customer service conversations... this is ridiculous. Despite the hopefully good quality if you get your dress, it shouldn't be this stressful of an expirience
Not sure if they would have anything you like but for a backup try Camille De Vie.
Ordered LAST Thursday, got the dress TODAY. Super super quick, very friendly and helpful.
I called to make sure it was in stock and placed the order over the phone - I'm sure I got it so quickly because it was in-stock, so you'd have to check before ordering.
They are in NJ - dresses are made to be worn with very few alterations - sizing is true to their chart (my measurments were a 2 and it fits perfectly- no funky sizing going on).
Just thought I'd offer it up as a suggestion for those of you getting in a time crunch. Hope it all works out for you!
Have you considered finding a dress on eBay (do NOT do a custom dress..in my haste I ordered a replica gown on eBay and it made me appreciate my Milly Dress). Also there are a number of pre-owned wedding dress sites that have NEW gowns.
And although the girl who ordered her dress in November - they kept promising her that her dress would be done sometime in late February/early March (5 weeks before her wedding)...if they didn't keep insisting on it she likely wouldn't have gone through with it. She was a lot more patient than she should have been b/c other girls who are on the Milly Dress Brides group on PW who ordered custom dresses AFTER her got theirs first!
Here's a link to her thread where she explains her experience as well as pictures of her in the dress. http://www.projectwedding.com/post/list/dress-arrived-pix-long-review
Thanks guys, I also started scouring craigslist.
However, at 830 last night they finally sent me my test pics.. and they do look pretty good. There seemed to be only one big change. So, with some hesitancy I think I am continuing with the proces... I am still going to check out a gown or two on craigslist... but... I guess the time comes to trust in my initial decsion.
I will post the test pics later, probably tonight, and let you guys comment on them, and see them.
I still would caution that a bride needs nerves of steel to do this, but who knows maybe it'll all work out....
Hi guys,
I am currently having the same problem and am FRANTIC about what to do next. I ordered my dress in January after reading numerous reviews about how great Milly Bridal is. When I ordered it the customer service was fantastic, and now I'm getting the same run around because test dress pictures were to be sent to me March 30, and I still haven't received anything yet. After many emails my contact changed from Annie to Bella and then she quoted me a date 2 weeks later than what was promised to me (I even paid the rush fee to get the dress April 17) My wedding is in July but I don't have the budget to look elsewhere. The whole point of getting a dress here was to get a dress on a BUDGET!!! Has anyone tried to get their money back from Milly? Or should I continue to try to get the dress? I'm wondering if I should just let it slide until April 25 when they promised, or should I keep hounding them now?
tdang1021 - you're certainly NOT alone in this situation. If I were in your shoes I'd start looking at alternative dresses. You still have roughly 3 months..but you also need time to do alterations if you need it. Worst case scenario - you spend more money than you planned...but you can always sell the Milly Dress if it doesn't work out right?
I am pretty worried myself, since after looking at the Project Wedding boards I noticed Jessica and Bella told at least ten other girls that their dress would be ready by the end of May, the same thing they told me.
I'm not sure if you can get your money back or not, but my plan is to wait until May 20, the day they promised they would have it done by and if it isn't done I am going to write to the owner and ask for my money back. My backup plan is Craigslist and the Classifieds here. I realize I may not get my dream dress if I have to cancel with Milly because I am on a budget too, but as long as I can get a nice dress that fits and I feel good in, at this point I am just so stressed about it.
Marci, my thoughts exaclty. I really like my pictures, but don't have a ton of faith that the dress will be completed May 22nd like they promised. But, I am really hoping that it is since this is a replica of the dress of my dreams that was just plain out of my budget. I just don't feel comfortable spending a thousand dollars on a dress I will wear once. So, lately there have been some cute dresses my size on craigslist... but it isn't in my budget to buy two dresses and hope I can re sell one... so I wait. Hoping that I get mine in May, but if not the craigslist frenzy will begin! I am really hoping I can get my crinoline or veil free out of this mess! Agghhh.. Wishing you all the best of luck! Keep us posted!
A friend referred me to Coral Bridal...which is another China based dress company. I did contact them about a quote, but I'm not sure! It seems crazy to be unhappy with one company and run to another, I am afraid the same sort of nonsense will happen. For now I am just waiting, but I have started to look at other dresses as an option now... :(
I know a lot of you gals are determined to get custom dresses and I was looking for some time at doing the same thing, but then while visiting my dad I found what could be called the perfect dress (I have yet to try it on). It was in a shop that I've never bought from, but is a huge supplier for my old high school's proms in the way of dresses/tuxes. I would have never considered going into there before I did and I'm so glad that I did. Maybe look at some shops around you and see if you can't find something. Oh and this dress is only $600.
I think the problem with Milly is ordering a custom dress. They are way behind on those. I started with a custom re-do of a Maggie S. I wasn't thrilled with the preliminary pics, and it was behind schedule--I order December 30th to give you a timeline. When I realized it wasn't going to be exactly the dress I had sent, I started looking at their other already tried designs. I chose to change my order to WG1144 from their rack designs--changed it on March 5th and I got my dress today. They let me change, they only charged me the difference in the two dresses, and it was done ASAP. I did have a hard time contacting them because of the time difference, but I am actually happy with the switch. Put the dress on, it is well made, fits like a glove. My mom is a serious former seamstress who would be making my dress except for arthritis and she said the construction was amazing. It is higher quality than anything I put on at bridal boutiques here in Memphis. It has been a nail-biter in the mean time of course. I totally understand your frustration--mine has turned out for the better I think though.
Ok, I can't believe this, but I looked on their site through their dresses, found one very similar to the one I wanted and requested a couple changes be made to that pattern. Bella said that it's true- since they already have the basic pattern the dress will go much quicker and should be here sooner than May 20! Thank you so much hsirrapyesdnil !
I am glad I could help. I think I realized I was drowning in my custom design about February. I picked a similar style but a different feel of dress, and it looks great. I don't even miss the first. I sew a little, and my mom sewed a lot in her past. It is really well made. Even if I don't get a full pic of me in it up today, I wil go take pics of it laying down today after school.
@GonnaB, I was just wondering how your process was going with them. I am supposed to get my test dress pictures next week! Can we see yours?
Well, another turn of events for me,
I bought a dress! I accidentally found a test dress on sale at David's Bridal when I went with my girls to find their dresses and I bought it. No more stress from Milly.
I hope that everything turns out okay for all of you!
I just saw the pictures in your other thread. It's gorgeous. Good for you!
I read many reviews and was skeptical about using their services but after a 1 hour chat and some pictures back and forth about what I wanted i felt that this company was perfect. However, the next day when I went to their website to pay and ask a few more final questions. I recieved this message. Millybridal.com

Because of this message I felt that Milly's Bridal wasn't trustworthy. Its been 5 days since I haven't been able to access their website. I gave up and moved on to Jeff Liu for my 1st dress and Dressilyme for my second. I felt like their customer service excellent. Dressily me was honest about not being able to make my deadline. I changed dresses and they were able to make it work. Jeff Liu is currently making my primary gown and I feel that it will be excellent quality.
We'll see!!! 30 days and counting.

Milly bridal has been nothing but problems and is now screening their live customer support. Completely ridiculous and frustrating. I would not reccommend them to anyone, no amount of savings is worth this stress!
