Hi Everyone! Just wanted to share my experience on today..I sent out my first batch of invitations and long story short..the post office worker told me that she will request hand cancelling for mines since the invites could possibly be RETURNED TO ME! I asked her why and she said because the machine may possibly not detect the label the right way..guessing cause it’s wrapped around and they are not flat?
UGH! just something else to stress my life lol..so I just wanted to share this tidbit..if you have wrap around labels please go inside and show the postal worker before just dropping them in. Thankfully the lady was very nice and put mines aside for hand cancelling.
In case you are not aware of what they are here is a picture:

@futuremrsmendez: interesting – is it the label or the font she was concerned about? I’m trying to figure out how to address my dark purple envelopes and we’d debated doing the wrap labels.

@futuremrsmendez: Good to know! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

@futuremrsmendez: well that’s annoying. Especially because I tried to get invites to my friend’s shower hand cancelled because there was a button on the invitation but I went to THREE post offices and none were willing to hand cancel for me! And sure enough- the bride’s invitation arrived with a ripped envelope and the button missing! Booooo

@MsGinkgo: I think the label was her concern because she said something about the way it runs through the machine it could possibly return to me so hand canceling had to be done. And be wary that all Post offices may not do that because the lady who I spoke with their first told me they don’t do it anymore.
@calisunshine3404: No problem! Any little tidbit helps I think 🙂
@MexiPino: I am soooooo sorry that happened! Ugh! Yeah that’s just what I warned bibbleskip of..everyone doesn’t offer hand cancelling..I just came across a lady who was kind enough to put a note for it to be done.

This happened to me when I sent my invitations out with wrap-around labels. About 5 out of 75 were returned back to me for that reason – the machine picked up the return address on the back as the delivery address. Sent them out again and they were fine.

@futuremrsmendez: I’ve seen some Bee bloggers say their post office let them hand-cancel their invitations themselves. My post offices thought I was crazy when I suggested it! Maybe I just have to go to a smaller town or something.

@MexiPino: Yeah the one I went to said I could do it myself..but honestly I don’t have the time to do it ! :/
@leembee: Oh so that’s what it is..the return address is seen as the delivery..ugh! So many things to add to the frustrated bride’s life lol .. glad yours got through and you were able to re-send those 🙂

@futuremrsmendez: well I learned something new today — I need to get my invitations (1) cancelled by hand at the Post Office and (2) mannually sorted. Just took a quick look online and it looks like Canada still does this… lets hope I have no issues 🙂 Thank you for posting this!
