- Wedding: July 2013
When I first went to this Zales I was thrilled, everyone was so nice and great and then I went to get my wedding band at Helzburg down the way from Zales and realized how full of sh*t Zales was.
My first e-ring was considered a RHR. It didn’t fit. I drove out to Deer Park to get it sized at the Zales out there instead of waiting the two weeks to have it sized through the mall store. Deer Park could only size it to a size bigger than my finger and put sizing beads in due to the pave stones on the side. Ok cool….Then Helzburg tells me that they should have offered to custom make the ring for me.
I go back to Zales and tell them this. They argue with me for a while before saying yes you are right. It will be three months before you can get that if we were to custom make it. Now I’m annoyed because my wedding is in July and if they had told me that to begin with I would’ve had it in time. Either way that day I exchanged the ring for a slightly bigger one which they said they were going to order in a 5 (my ring is 4.5 and then size it since they told me the ring didn’t come in a 4.5) I said forget ordering it I will go out to Deer Park. I have pave stones on the side of this one as well and they told me that Deer Park could DEFINITELY size it to a 4.5 it wouldn’t be problem.
I go to Deer Park. I love the people there. They said they couldnt size it cause it wouldnt look right but it could be ordered in my size (4.5) which the mall store told me it couldn’t be. Deer Park also says they could rush it for me. They then say instead of the ugly ring guard to go to Claires and get rubber ring guards which are brilliant because I can take them off for wedding pictures of the ring.
SO back to Roosevelt Field I go. i tell the woman what Deer Park told me. She argues with me for 40 minutes that Deer Park can size it for me. Even though i had spoken with the jeweler and the manager. She then argues with me about a custom ring. She says its anywhere between two weeks and three months but for a 45$ RUSH FEE she could WRITE IN THE NOTES on the order that i need it by July 12th. Oh and there was NO GUARANTEE it would be rished, so what the hell was I paying for?!!??! Now I am confused on how I know it was actually rushed? Like if it comes in in three weeks how do I know that was becuase she wrote a note on the paper or because it was just ready in three weeks? That was sketchy to begin with.
Then I tell her that I need an apprasial from them because of insurance and I bought my ring there so typically jewelry stores do free apprasials. Apparently this is another 60 or 70$ charge and take three weeks. i just dropped close to 3k on a ring and they couldnt do an appraisal for me?! She says she will give me a certification for my insurance company. She then takes a HALF HOUR messing around on the computer (she obviously had no idea what she was doing) before printing out another copy of the reciept and handing that to me with the word certifcation written on the top of it.
At this point I was so irritated I just made sure my ring was ordered and walked out. The woman didn’t fully understand English either. She mainly spoke Russian and half the time looked at me like I had four heads. I am NEVER dealing with Zales there again and so wish I had seen that Helzburg has basically the same rings and bought my E-Ring there. I’m so glad I bought our wedding bands there. To be fair, this might not be the fault of the store, it could be the fault of the sales woman. I was so angry by the time I left I was fuming.
