To all the married bees, were you glad you spent the money on a videographer? Do you ever watch your wedding video? I am torn between wanting to get a really good one and if I just shouldn’t bother at all. Friends keep telling me not to waste the money because it will just sit in a closet and get lost.

I am very happy we did. But only spent $1000. It’s not aaaaaaamaaaaaaazing cinematography but pretty enough and does the job of letting us relive the day and impressing our friends and family. We haven’t watched the full footage and I am honestly NOT interested in full footage. All I wanted was the highlight video. By the way when I first saw the highligth video, I cried. hehe
You were wanting some very expensive videographer right? I would not spend that same amount of money on the video but put that budget on photography.

@gramgeek: There is an amazing videographer that I wanted but I am not about to drop $6,000 on them so I am looking for an alternative now. I found one that is pretty good and $2000. I will probably end up going with them. Thanks for the advice. I am so happy you were in love with your video!

@KaleighMarie: Thanks. I am not in love or anything but happy enought with it considering how less we spent on it. You get what you pay for really. We’re happy with the video we got.
Yes I think your new option sounds sensible and I’m happy to hear your planning is going well!

Yes, I am so thankful we got a video. It allowed us to relieve some parts that we forgot about. We have watched it a few times (when 1st got it, and each wedding anniversary so far), and i have a few other times when I need to feel the love again..lol

@gramgeek: Thanks! I think it did its job if it made you cry, I will be happy if I get that result too.

… hello Bees… this is my videographer…. and this is my actual venue… they did this wedding not too long ago… https://vimeo.com/57520687 what do you think? I say It will TOTALLY be worth it!!

@KaleighMarie: OMG is it so worth it.. There are things photos can’t capture and really, if you’re on the fence already, you’re more likely to regret not doing it than doing it. Do it!!
You may not watch the full thing a whole lot, but videographers do 5 minute highlights these days. I have watched mine sooooooo many times. It brings me right back to the day, I treasure the video so much. Best decision of the wedding 🙂

@KaleighMarie: TOTALLY worth it! We weren’t going to get one at first and at the last minute we decided to. I will admit, we almost didn’t do it because of $$$ but thankfully we bit the bullet.
It’s the one piece of advice I give to every bride! The day goes by so fast that you miss miss or forget so much of it! We don’t watch our full video a lot. We’ve maybe watched it 2-3 times in the past 10 months, but we watch our highlight video quite a bit and have shared it with many friends and familiy. It’s especially nice for those who couldn’t make it!
Here’s our highlight video just to give you an idea: http://vimeo.com/45679154
Good luck with your decision!

We spent $1200 for our videographer for full-day coverage, but we asked him to just make a 10-minute highlights video. He ended up making an 18-minute highlights video. I honestly think that’s the best way to go – get a video that captures your vows and the highlights of the day, but that is short enough that you don’t have to dedicate 3+ hours to watching it (which is the way wedding videos used to be). I’ll be honest, I don’t think it’s worth breaking the bank over a videographer unless cinematography is “your thing” – but having someone professional who doesn’t have shaky hands videotape your ceremony is really special. Getting footage of the reception is a bonus.
We were married a little over 4 months ago and we’ve watched our video at least a dozen times. I’m so glad we paid for it, since everything else is gone and now all we have to remember that very, very special day is our photos and the video.
