We have had a Maytag since Nov '10 and haven't had any serious issues with it. We had a problem when we first installed it because one of the parts shifted in shipment. They had a tech out the day after I called and fixed it right away.
We got them on sale and the pedestals were free. I would not have gotten a front-loader without the pedestals. We have washer MHWE450WW and the matching gas dryer. I love that I can fit my king size bedding in it with no problems!
My mom used her set of top loading maytags for nearly a decade and used the hell out of them. She just got a new pair of front loading ones, and they have been great, too. Our family is obsessed with washing clothes, so if it can withstand us, you will be fine. :)

DH and I are building our house and we are getting most of our appliances through our builder for free as an insentive. However, the washer and dryer was not included and while we thought about adding it through them the price just isn't worth it. The problem is we have no idea what washer and dryer to get. We have a connection through Whirlpool and Maytag where we could get a great deal so we would prefer to get one of those brands but if there is something better out there at a decent price we would be willing to do that as well.
