Hello ladies! My wedding day has come and gone and was everything I envisioned it to be. I wasn’t sure in the beginning what I would be going with my dress afterwards and have decided that I’ll be donating it to “Angel Babies”. Being a mother to twin angel babies..it just sounded right. But..before sending my dress away, I was asked by a good friend of mine if I would allow her to take pictures of me, in my dress for her portfolio. Sounds like fun to me and gives me another reason to put my dress back on. Also..”Angel Babies” won’t accept dirty dresses. So..since I can’t afford the dry cleaner right now and since they can’t even guarantee it’ll come clean either way, I don’t want to go that route. So I have been doing research.
I soaked the bottom of my dress in my bath tub with cold water & woolite. The bottom is absolutely filthy because NOT only did it drag on the floor..but 2 hours before the reception had ended..my amazing/tipsy brother stepped on my train and actually ripped two buttons from the bustle..making it impossible to get the whole train off of the ground. So it’s pretty icky. After soaking for more than enough time..I went in..did some vigirous scrubbing and it just isn’t working. The blacker spots just don’t seem to be fading even in the slightest…
So..any tips?? Should I move on to OxyClean?? My last resort is turning it inside out, tossing it in a garment bag, taking it to the laundrymat and washing it in the front loader. I have quite a few beads down one side and also all over the top..so I don’t want to mess anything up. Although I have read tons and tons of other ladies have done the same here and the dress came out perfect…
Any help would be appreciated!
