I am looking for ladies in the same region as me. Is there a way that I can sort posts or find people by location???

I would love to hook up with some Western Washington brides, and hear what you have to say about weather, venues, florists, etc.

Anyone worried about the Washington rain?

I'm in Seattle but moving to Yakima soon. My thoughts on rain are...if you are planning on getting married outside, late July through early September is your best bet!

It looks like you have already found the Seattle board, so, welcome! We have been fairly active in the past but are in a bit of a lull right now.

I'm getting married in Woodinville on July 24, and not really worried about rain! It should be a gorgeous day. Heat could be an issue, but again we're hoping not.

Sorry, I responded to the wrong post. I can't delete it, but can only edit.  I hope it doesn't rain for your wedding. But I have heard that rain on the wedding day does brings luck!

I am getting married outside on July, 24th in Tacoma WA. I am hopeful that it will be really nice, but if it is rainy or too hot I have some things in mind. I will be able to order tents two days before the wedding if it rain is predicted and i have made fan programs and can get water misters if it is too hot. =^.^=

Welcome to the bee heatherrobyn :-)

I am worried about the rain. I would love to have an outdoor wedding, but our wedding is scheduled for March 31, 2011; 3 days before you. Right now we plan to have an indoor wedding with a plan to move it outside, if the weather is nice.

Welcome to the Bee (Seattle) Heatherrobyn! I just had my wedding on May 23rd this year.  I don't do dirt so we were inside, but the rain held off till 5 minutes after we walked into our wedding night Hotel ;)

That being said, Late July to Late August are the dryest of the months in Washington. April is one of the rainiest (April Showers), but I think Rain is beautiful and the skies when full of the wet clouds are STUNNING, but that's from a Native Washingtonian! So I say "Rock it" :)

The most beautifully used place is the Arboretum for outdoor weddings! Lots of gardens you can use.  Woodland Park Zoo is another popular venue.

If you give us an idea of what you are looking for (theme, look, idea) of your wedding, we can narrow down some choices for you if you want.

Welcome! This is a great resource for getting ideas for your wedding. As for the Washington weather, I've been more and more worried about the rain lately... We are in the 30 day window and it feels like its been raining for a week straight. Right now our ceremony is set outside and our reception is on a deck. I'm definitely crossing my fingers for sunshine.

Use the Almanac, its the most consistent for weather in the Pacific NW.  Also, it will have past years which helps determines the current year and future years.

YAY - - Another WA bride Laughing

We werent to worried about the rain. We knew we wanted to have our wedding in the fall and therefore we might have a rainy day wedding. We're marrying on Halloween and the past 3 Halloweens (that we can remember) have rained, LOL

Our venue is indoors and it was one of out top choices, regardless of rain or shine we're super excited....

I think you're pretty safe for an August wedding, gosh how gorgeous!!!

Hi! I'm getting married April 2011, as well. Definitely worried about rain. April is not when I wanted to do this, but family yada yada. Anyway, would have loved to find an outdoorsy venue, but think I may have to give up on that. Still looking for a place and feeling frustrated.

heatherrobyn: I'd like to get married in Seattle, to keep things simple for our out-of-town guests. However, I am open to other areas that aren't too far away. Any tips you have would be great!

@Ellenbliss - probably not more than 70. I was even thinking some restaurants might work, but we want room for dancing, as well.

I was planning on having mine at the woodland park zoo. The northwest trail is beautiful and it has an outdoor feel while mostly being indoors. We decided against it because the most people you could have was 66 and we wanted 80-100. There is a place for the ceremony, dinner and then cake/dancing. There are a bunch of other places at the zoo too. We also liked the canal in ballard too, beautiful view. Hope this helps! I have a lot more info if you need it

noritake22-I had a friend who got married there last year..it was great, but i guess the venue charged them for so much extra 'little' stuff, like soap from the rooms and such, they ended up fighting a TON of charges, so just be careful!  Its a great venue though :)

I did not want to get married on a day that it rains and that is why I choose late July to have our wedding. But you can never be too sure around here. I mean even June this year has been horrible and looking more like winter time.

I'm getting married at the woodland park zoo rose garden July 2.  Am worried about the rain, but will likely get a big tent just in case (if it ends up being hot, I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate the shade, even though it would be prettier to go without it).

The other thing I was thinking about was buying tons of those paper umbrellas and waterproofing them (since a downpoar isn't likely, they really just need to work for 30 minutes or so). Anyone done this?
