I know nothing about watches but I think I'd like to get my groom a watch for a wedding gift.  He wears a metal one for work and I'd like to get a dressier one with a leather strap as a wedding gift.  Do any of you know anything about watches - I'm thinking something under $500 (or less???)

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi AnamCara....So I had been wanting to do the same thing.  When catalogs to Macys and other places came in the mail i would be like "do you like this?" and see what he said.  My FI is a watch person and already has a few. This past weekend we were actually in Macys and i had him try the one that i wanted to buy him but he didn't know and thank goodness because he didn't like the way it fit. Anyways long story short he ended up finding one he liked there and i ended up buying it for him but told him he could not have it. Reason is to make it more of a surprise i am going to get something engraved on the back and buy one of those watch boxes and put it in there and make sure one of the guys gives it to him on our wedding day.

Both Mr. Bruschetta and I have Citizen watches, and we looooove them.  They run on light, so you never need to change a battery!  Feel free to PM me for more info!

If you don't already know,  try to find out from him if he likes a simple face or a chronograph design (the kind with little circles and dials on the face).  My FI LOVES the latter, and I would have NEVER picked something like that for him.

I've come to the realization that watches for guys are kind of like shoes for girls.  Most are very picky about preference and not just any one will do.
