Sometimes someone who I watch TV with on a super regular basis falls asleep every time we watch a show. It could be our favorite show, or it could be antiques roadshow (who am I kidding, that is my favorite show), he falls asleep every time.

We don't get to see each other during the day and I kind of see that time as our time to enjoy together. Sure we're looking at the tube, but we're enjoying time together. And I like to make funny comments and I want him to laugh and talk back to me but he's snoring.

I feel unreasonable an grumpy but I just wanna hang out.

(also, yes, we spend time doing things other than watching the tv.)

I know that feeling! We will be laying in bed and I'll be totally cracking up at Malcolm in the Middle then look over and he's asleep and feel like a fool! It's such a silly thing to get upset about, but I do anyways, so don't feel bad!

Yea, I get unreasonably angry about this, I can't really explain it! But is it so much to ask for him to be conscious with me for a few hours a day??

This isn't exactly the same problem but my FI cannot fall asleep without the TV on.  Well he has to have it on until right before he falls asleep then he turns it off.  It's usually something super exciting, like an episode of Wings I didn't like the first time and have seen 1385 times since.  Yeah, I'm a little bitter.

I hate that Mr.ND watches tv in bed, because I have to finish a show (or goodness forbid he starts a MOVIE) before I can get to sleep. So I hate having the tv on at night because he 'needs' it but then he falls asleep right away like your guy. He doesn't want to chit chat, just snuggle and watch tv, but he zonks out right away.

ETA- Yay, natalieh, I'm not alone! LOL.

we have custom made high back leather fully reclining cinema seats - with cup holders no less, can you tell hubby picked them out *roll eyes*

anyways guaranteed he will fall asleep within an hour of sitting down every night - drives me crazy because one week i ended up watching the same episode of mythbusters six times because he kept falling asleep during it

for me it depends on what day/time it is - hubby can have a 10min power nap and be ok so i will let him snooze, otherwise i turn it off and tell him its bed time for us

DH doesn't fall asleep watching the telly but if it's one of my 'silly shows' he'll put ear plugs in and read a book.  It doesn't really bother me but I do wish he would just accept that The Farmer Wants a Wife is really a good show! Lol, kidding!  I fully admit I watch trash tv.

We also chose not to put a tv in our bedroom as DH is not a huge television watcher and would prefer we keep our bedroom for rest, relaxation, and bedroom activities.  So to answer your question, no DH does not fall asleep watching television with me but I can understand how you would get a bit annoyed.  I feel a minor irritation sometimes when he gets out the ear plugs so a comparable situation I think.

Usually I'm fine with it since then I can watch all the stupid trashy shows I love without worrying about him making fun of me.

When we want to spend time together we will do something together like talk, read next to each other, look up stuff on the computer (IE plan something), do our own hobbies in the same room, take the dog to walk.

When we watch TV it is totally understandable one of us may fall asleep because TV is not interactive. Its the perfect time to fall asleep.

We only have a TV in the livingroom.

The problem we have is that he likes to fall asleep with the tv on and I can't sleep with the tv on. The slightest noise and light drive me absolutely nuts when I'm trying to go to sleep. So it's pretty annoying when he falls asleep with the tv on and then I shut it off to go to sleep and sometimes he wakes up and turns it back on. I'll be so close to falling asleep and he thinks just because he turned the volume as low as possible, that it won't bother me. Trying to make him comprehend that I can still here it and the light is totally obnoxious, doesn't seem to work.

    @lefeymw: Same here.

I'm the kind of person that falls asleep in front of a TV really easily, even if I like the show. I can't help it. If I'm doing another activity I'm fine, but if I'm the least bit tired when we watch TV or a movie, I'm out.

Maybe do a different activity together?
