I was wondering what everyone has their hot water heater set to? When we moved to our new house, the builder told us to turn down our temperature to the “A” setting when our baby gets here although I am not sure what the actual temperature is. I am hoping it is between 120 and 125 degrees F. I am going to look for the owner’s manual to find out but I was still wondering what yours is set at. It is making me paranoid because I definitely don’t want to accidentally burn our baby but I don’t want to worry about bacteria growing in our water either. Thanks!

Our doctor recommended we set it at 120 now that our daughter is mobile/strong enough to turn the knob by herself. We haven’t turned it down, though, and I don’t think we will until DD is of an age she gets free roam of the house or can go to the bathroom by herself. It’s mostly selfish since I like REALLY hot showers, but also we have baby gates everywhere, so DD can’t even get to a faucet unless we open at least 2 gates for her. It’s not a concern for us right now.

I’m not turning ours down until the baby is mobile. I worry about stuff not getting clean, like when you wash the towels and sheats in hot water to kill mites and allergens and during the day I clean my pump parts in hot soapy water from the facuet. I was under the impression that water temps of 140 were necessary to clean things like that.
