Hey there! You got a full year to help get in shape. One thing for me is that I haven't lost weight but I have lost inches. My bust was a 36 now is a 34 my waist was 30 and now 28, hips were 49 and now 41. I've also lost half inch in neck, arms, calves and ankles.
I've been working out 3 nights a week for a year. I'm getting toned which is what I really wanted. I've found that cleansing every 6 mos has helped get things moving again for me when I hit a wall.
Good Luck!
Hey vintage---What do you mean by "cleansing"??
Oh and when I say I hit a wall I mean that I have gained 15 pounds since last spring and have gained about 40 pounds in 6 years. I'm not happy with myself these days. Toning, losing weight, feeling better will all be good things!
We bought a treadmill recently so I could get in better shape and feel better about myself. I admire your bravery to be honest not only with yourself, but with a whole board of strangers!!
I don't think I'm quite that brave yet, but I will tell you I've lost about 7 pounds on my journey to lose about 30. My goal is to lose about 10 more pounds before Christmas. The wedding isn't for another year though, so I keep telling myself I have time...I have time...
I think the biggest thing I struggle with is the fear of if it won't work...if I do all of this and try hard and still fail. Though I will admit, after I run on the treadmill I do feel much better, and my confidence skyrockets.
Now I feel incredibly guilty for not being on the treadmill right now. I should probably stop watching the world series upstairs and get my butt moving downstairs while i watch!
PS. GO PHILLIES!
Yay!!! Go you!
I gained a lot of wait after a recent knee surgery and it has been harder than I thought to get it off!
Sometimes i feel so unmotivated, maybe we can help each other out?!??
@jaylii9- There are different types of cleanses out there. My boot camp trainer has us do a soup cleanse. Basically for breakfast we do smoothies that have low-fat yogi or ice cubes blended with fresh fruit. If you go to a store to get one made make sure they don't add any sugar or creamer to it. For lunch or dinner she has us do a bowl of soup. The soup has all fresh veggies and spices. We can add chicken/beef broth and meat if we like. You can eat one normal meal but she wants us to focus on not eating anything processed. Also she has us drink water with lemon/lime. The cleanse is to rid body of toxins. We do this for 3 days which isn't hard to do and I feel so better after I do it.

So I think I am ready to be serious about this gettin' in shape thing. I want to look good for the wedding, but the more important thing for me is that I need to get to a healthy weight and stop lying to myself.
I am 5'7 and I got on the scale this morning---199 pounds, yikes. I feel like I have hit a big wall. I don't want to gain anymore weight. It's a hard thing because I have always struggled with my weight all through high school and college.
I think I ate pretty good today and I got my butt to boot camp class at the gym today. All good first steps.
I am looking forward to contributing more on this board! If you feel comfortable, please share where you are with your the weight loss, how things are going and what you are currently struggling with.
