@cyndistar3:  I’m waxing before our wedding too.  I was wondering the same thing.  I’m hoping a seasoned veteran will help us out with this question!

I had laser hair removal because I was sick of paying for waxing.  If you have never had it done before I would recommend a trial run to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction to the product.  You don’t want any redness or bumps on your wedding night and honeymoon.

I agree with chirod, DEFINITELY go in for a trial run first. I’d tried one strip at home…paid for it for weeks! Haha. So if I ever decide I’m brave enough to let a professional have a go at it, there will be a trial at least 3 months out, so there can be a 2nd round if need be before the wax for the important day.

i have been waxing for years and i totally recommend it. nothing can make you smoother after. and the perfect smoothness lasts at least a week or two. then it starts to grow back very slowly.  if you keep it up, your hair will get thinner – as mine has and so i only wax every 4 or 5 weeks. no shaving. and i can still wear a skirt right up until i wax because my hair is now so thin and light.

i would however recommend doing it once or twice before your wedding. just so you know what to expect, how long it takes, if you like your waxing lady etc.

if you happen to have a bad first experience, don’t give up. i have an amazing lady in  my hometown. i recently moved and had a horrible experience with the new person. had this been my first experience, i dont think i would have ever got waxed again!

and whatever you do, do not wax on your wedding day! do it at least one day, if not 2 days (if you are new to it) before your wedding!  always on the day i wax, i get these tiny red dots on my legs that go away by the next day.  also, because you are new, your skin might be more sensitive to it.  that’s also why i say you start a few months before.

good luck!

by the way, i wax my legs, get a full brazilian, and my underarms. i actually do my underarms myself. after so many years the underarms and legs barely even hurt anymore!

last thing to know – a full leg should not take more than 45 – 60 minutes (for both legs). if your lady takes much more than that, she is not good at her job!!

Waxing is awesome! I wax everything lol. I want to do laser eventually but waxing keeps me pretty smooth for weeks! I got so tired of shaving all the time and the hair is so much finer after a few months of doing it. I would never go back!

Laser hair removal was the best $$ I ever spent.  It has paid for itself by now.  It takes several sessions depending on your skin color and hair color, and looks UGLY in the area you get done right after the appointment.  I would NOT recommend you display that area to anyone for at least a day or so after.  So for your wedding I would recommend the waxing Smile

@cyndistar3: it hurts, i wont lie!  but the lady i  had do it in my hometown was so quick and efficient, that it was bearable because it was over so quickly!  she actually did the brazilian and my full legs in about 45-50 minutes! brazilian took maybe 10 minutes? and she give little “breaks” in between to recover.  really, think of it like pulling a bandaid off. it HURTS when you rip if off, but then the pain stops just as quick.

then when i moved, i made an appt JUST for the brazilian and it took her over an hour!!!! i won’t get into the details, but it was NOT fun and i will NEVER go back!!! now i have 3 months to go and am willing to try someone new every month until my wedding if i have to!!

Take two Advil before you go. DON’T DO IT AT HOME IF IT’S THE FIRST TIME!!! If you need to save the money, take advantage of your friends and make them help you. Definitely do it two or three days before the wedding because of aforementioned red dots.

I had my bikini line lasered.  I think I paid about $800 CND for the sessions it took. Sooo worth it!
