    Hey ladies,

I leave for my honeymoon in 2 days and tomorrow I have scheduled my first bikini wax (I know I am behind the times.)  I am not sure how bare I want to go.  I am doing this partly to avoid having to shave as I will be in a bikini for 10 days and but mostly to surprise my hubby.  I am wondering how bare you girls actually go.  I am considering the Brazilian but it scares me.  Will it hurt a lot afterwards?  How does sex feel with it?

The Brazilian IS scary, but honestly the worst part of the procedure are the awkward moments between you and person waxing you (they put you in some pretty... ummm... exposing positions). People respond differently to it, but I personally didn't think it was very painful. The first couple of strips might make your eyes water, but just because the area is sensitive, not because it is excruciating. After that, you are pretty much numb and don't feel a whole lot. I haven't found it to be painful at all after, and sex doesn't feel any different (maybe a little sexier :)). Just make sure not to exfoliate for a day or two. I have had the full monty done and the landing strip. I like the look of the landing strip better, but my FH likes both and enjoys a little mix up now and then.

I don't know what a landing strip is!  But I do advocate for a bikini wax!  Not only because it looks a lot better and there's less risk for razor burn or irritation, but because it lasts longer!  Trust me, you'll like it better in your bathing suit... as will the hubby.

I shave the bikini line every now and then. I'm still trying to get the courage to get it waxed! lol.

Some people suggest taking a couple of painkillers beforehand. I've never done that, you will know your pain threshold better than us. It's not too bad, take comfort in the fact that it gets better the more you do it. Also, try to trim beforehand - it's a lot easier to take off short hairs than long ones!

Oh and yes, I do think sex is better. Particularly the...oral variety :)

When I shave, I do a landing strip, but when I splurge on a wax- I go all the way!!! Take a couple of advil before you go, wear comfortable pants (I recommend no jeans), relax, and like Neato anedo said, exfoliate. If you have a good waxer, it'll be over in no time.

I have a high pain tolerance so that doesn't bother me.  Loose pants, take an advil afterward if you're worried...

and ps. sex with a brazilian is aweeesommee. ;)

Oh jeez, I really need to get up the courage to do this - it would look soooo good! I just need to stop being a super wuss.

Go Brazilian - with or without a landing strip- in a brazilian they do the, erm, back too......I actually don't find brazilians much worse than a regular bikini at all.  Take 2 advil 30 minutes before. Go somewhere that is well recommended and they will use a good wax and it should be over in 15 minutes or less!

My recommendation is to just go for it!  It's not great, but it's definitely not bad.  I usually take 800mg of ibuprofen about 30 minutes to an hour before.  It cuts down on pain and any swelling after.  Oh, I would also recommend trimming before you go.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you want the hairs to be about 1/4" long.  Too short and the wax won't get the hair.  Too long and you increase the pain factor.

The after is so worth it that the uncomfortable-ness is not a problem.  Good luck!
