So I have been considering theeeen unconsidering the idea of getting a brazillian wax and having my armpits waxed for the wedding. I know I am supposed to have it done a few times to get my skin used to it, but I keep chickening out! Is it worth it?

I really hate waxing my armpits.  I can't stand letting my hair grow out long enough for it to be waxed.  I have never had a brazillian wax but I have had a normal bikini wax and I really liked it.  It helps to clean things up and you don't have to worry about maintainance.  You probably don't need to go a few times before, just make sure that you have it done a few days before the wedding.

I think it is if you like to be bare or have a landing strip.  It has a much cleaner feel than shaving and lasts longer.  It is a little painful, but not nearly as bad as some make it sound.  The worst part is its awkwardness.

I also hattteeee letting hair grow, but it just seems so worth it. I am Italian and my armpit hair is dark and when I shave it seems as if I can never shave good enough :(. How long does it last usually until it starts growing in again?

i get brazillians and LOVE them!  my skin is super sensitive to shaving (disasterously so) so waxing is amazing.

Waxing usually lasts between 3 to 6 weeks.  At first you might be able to tweeze strays if you can stand it (I can't on underarms for sure).

Hurts SO bad! Never done the armpits, but I think that would not be worth it. Brazilian is painful and expensive but if you can overcome both the costs it's worth it to have a smooth coochy :)

u guys are one tough cookie! im so scared to even try it!

i use this stuff called coochie cream to shave with that doesnt leave razor burn or bumps if you dont want to get the brazilian.

Does waxing hurt?  Yeah!  Is it awkward?  Yes!  But is it worth it?  Heck yeah!  I think so, anyway.  It lasts sooooo much longer and I get much less irritation.  I recommend it.  Especially for your big day!  And for bikini season...  Good luck!

lmao smooth coochy! that is hilarious. I too am considering waxing the aforementioned body parts and am more nervous about the awkwardness of having somebody looking at me in broad daylight. There is this really cool looking place named "The Pretty Kitty" that looks clean and sanitary.

I have had a brazillian was and would say it is totally worth it!  Just prepare yourself ahead of time...you know telling yourself this is going to hurt, it will be strange having a stranger down there, and this is going to hurt.  The pay off is fantastic and it does last for about 3-5 weeks depending on your hair.  I don't handle pain very well, so I took a tylenol before leaving to be waxed. Good luck!

I thought getting a brazilian would be totally worth it and that it would be much better than shaving every two days.  The first time was super painful and for four days I was red and very puffy :(

After that it was great for three weeks.  The second time it wasn't as painful but there were so many hairs not waxed since they weren't long enough yet again.  This time I was only sore and puffy two days.

Third time same thing, I waited four weeks this time though and I just felt like it wasn't as "clean" as that very first time.  Two more days of sore and puffy.  DH did not like the business of me not wanting any touching for a couple of days and said it wasn't worth the money nor the pain.  I definitely agreed and went back to shaving.

To follow up, I just returned from my pratice run Brazillian wax. Holy crap, the results are awesome, but the pain EEK! I guess we will see how this pans out over the next few weeks! :)

In terms of the pain: just take a hot shower and 3 advil about 30 minutes before you go. It really makes it much more manageable. I've also been places where they offer you a shot of vodka before you go back...but I usually wax in the morning and I can't bring myself to drink that early :)

In terms of price - I think it depends where you live. I live in Miami and you can't trip without falling on a wax business. Of course some are better than others, but it really keeps the prices down.

Finally- it really makes a difference how long you wait. the longer your hair is when you go back (like if you wait longer than 3 weeks), the more painful it will be and the worse it will look. If your skin is super sensitive, make sure to go every 3 - 4 weeks for the best experience.

If you can go to a Bliss Spa, that is the ONLY place I will get waxed. I've been going for years. Also, I would start going now to get the best results for your wedding, the first time you get waxed its hard to get 100% of the hair. Advil will make almost no difference, its not localized, it may help you mentally though :-)
