So I’ve been looking all week at wedding venues in Louisville, ky. As that is where Fiance and I are wanting to get married. Well I know we have a small budget ($4,000-$6,000) but I’m just getting frustrated because we don’t even have a lot of people coming (60-90 people), but it’s still costing us a min of $1200 for a reception area. Which would be fine except you have to spend an outragous amount on food/drinks which is completely unrealistic for how many people we want at our wedding.
Honestly I feel like giving up looking.
Anyone have any advice on how to not feel so overwhelmed and finding a great place?

@cupcakebride2013: Finding a venue was so stressful for us too. Have you looked at any public parks or things like that? We had our reception in a family members back yard and it went really well. Good luck!

I found a caterer who happens to own a reception hall. He does not charge for the hall, you just have to buy (reasonably priced) catering and drinks from him.
I hadn’t even really considered him, his website was crap and the pics were terrible. I was just calling to find out about catering for a different venue.
I’d suggest looking at community centers as well. I found a couple that were quite cheap. Look for venues that maybe don’t have good websites and that you have to call to find out more info/request pictures. Those can be real gems in the rough.

I also found a caterer who had an amazing space available. I had to pay like an $800 food minimum (we upgraded our food, so were well over that) and we got the space for free. I actually found it while I was searching for rehearsal dinner spaces…
