Low or no heat  Trims ONLY when you have split ends and literally like 1/4 of an inch or less only where needed. Do not trim 1/2 inch bc that is all your regrowth!!! … NO dying or maybe just one color for low maintence. There are no magic pills to make your hair grow. Biotin works for me by making my nails and hair not break off so it is more healthy. By having less breakage I actually notice it grows nicely:) But hair grows from your roots, not ends. Take care of the ends so it won’t split up the shaft and break off though! Sulfate free shampoo like Loreal and It’s A 10 plus Keratin leave in spray….  Good luck!

@jbbs1222:  try to do a color wash:)) Ask you salon for it. It is the color diluted with shampoo acts as a toner for brunettes. Changed my life and my bank acct lol!

I heard brushing and massaging your head as it stimulates the growth or something i don’t know how true that is though.

The rate at which your hair grows cannot be changed…it’s genetics…so you can’t make it grow faster. The only thing that you can control is how healthy it is. Air drying, washing it every other (or third) day, use a good conditioner and very limited other products (including dyes), no heat styling, etc are the best ways to keep your hair from breaking off at the ends. If you dye your hair once a month chances are that the longer parts of your hair are damaged and break easily.

I have hair that grows very quickly as well…approximately 1.5-2 inches a month. It is currently about upper thigh length and healthy because I treat it the way I stated above…and I use cheap off the grocery shelf products.

Biotin is clinically proven to help improve the health of hair. Healthy hair = longer hair. If you are iron deficient that will also affect the health of your hair.

I take prenatal vitamins and biotin supplements and they’ve helped keep my hair healthy and long.

Prenatal vitamins plus a biotin supplement make my hair and nails stronger. Not sure if they grow faster but I definitely have less breakage from taking them. Biotin is was water  soluble vitamin so any excess is excreted through the urine so it won’t build up toxically in your body the way fat soluble vitamins do.

Do a hot oil or deep conditioning treatment once a week. Lay off heat styling as much as possible and use a silicone based heat primer product when you have to. Get your ends trimmed regularly so the hair stays healthy.

@jbbs1222:  You can’t really change the rate of your hair’s growth, but you can encourage it to grow stronger with supplements (other bees mentioned Biotin, I would also suggest Viviscal if its in your budget). Strong hair doesn’t break as easily.

Remember, hair breaks off at the ends, if you wear it up in a bun or twist you can protect the ends and prevent breakage. Just don’t put too much stress on your hair with tight ponytail holders.
