I wanted to start a thread about this before things blew up, but I decided to wait until things quieted down before bringing up something that I felt was much less important than the privacy issues that the situation brought up. Things still aren’t being handled well IMO though.
I understand that some of these questions may need to be discussed by the team first, but can some of them be answered when no discussion is required?
There was a large question thread not too long ago, but it looks like admin does quite a bit of moderating and that really wasn’t discussed. It’s also not stickied anymore. There is a lack of consistency with the policies.
I am trying to be understanding, and I realize this site runs largely in thanks to volunteers. I also am aware that the site is currently lacking a Community Coordinator.
What do admin actually do? I thought they mainly were behind the scenes, and not really into moderation with the exception of stuff that comes up in the support threads. Penguin has also mentioned that only the admins delete threads. Do they also do all the things that mods do?
I have questions about the name-calling rule. We are not allowed to label obvious trolls as such on the boards. Does this rule also apply to spammers? Hostesses/Mods were labelling spammers as such on the boards.
I have seen a lack of moderation of comments. Is the site moving towards less heavy-handed moderation? Is it because we are down a Community Coordinator? Or is it just a lack of consistency?
Can the ToS be displayed more prominantly? I think up by Support/Ideas would be a good place. It currently takes (me anyway) more than one click to access them.
Who do we contact if there is an issue that we think deserves emergency attention, like a breach of someone’s privacy?
Who do we contact with questions about the ToS? The Comment Policies page still says Bakerella, is this correct?
Who do we contact if we are having problems with signing in? You can’t ask questions in support when this happens. Someone had written their email address quite a while ago, but there is nothing that I can find when I need it.
