You crack me up!! I vote that we just all put in suggestions and then we can vote.
:] Have fun at your first dress fitting and shower! Can't wait to hear all about it!!
Here are some suggestions:
Vision in White - Nora Roberts
Bed of Roses - Nora Roberts
One Fifth - Candace Bushnell
Love Walked In - Maris de los Santos
Anyone else have any suggestions???
I would like to suggest some books I have heard great things about:
The Book of Negroes - Lawrence Hill
The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Milan Kundera
Also:
Night - Elie Weisel
These are all a bit of a heavier read - sort of a contrast to last month's Nicholas Sparks selection. If people think they are a bit to heavy for the bookclub, I am open to other ideas!
Good suggestions valahalla. I've read Night but it was amazing and wouldn't mind reading it again. It is a bit heavy, though. I would be interested in reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
I don't know if I would want to read anything too heavy...or anything wedding related. Don't we all need a small escape from that? :) Although I have heard those Nora Roberts books are great.
Oh my list of books I hope to read soon are...
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Memory Keepers Daughter
Songs of the Humpback Whale
and Sworn to Silence (which is a mystery...I love mysteries, but not sure they are good book club material)
So I'm not part of this book club but here are some suggestions (not sure what you read in the past)
Anita Shreve is an amazing author: "The Wedding" (not wedding related - there is a wedding that all the events surround, but lots of flashbacks NOT related to a wedding) -- "Fortune's Rocks" -- "The Pilot's Wife" -- "Revelation" (I've read all her books)
"Good Grief" -- Lolly Winston (Womens spouse dies...goes through the stages of grief but there is lots of humor)
Memory keeper's Duaghter is wonderful!
"Montana Sky" by Nora Roberts
"Trading Up" by Candace Bushnell
Suggestions:
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
Remember Me? ---or---- The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella
@MrsJKH2be - Anita Shreve is AMAZING! I read "Eden Close" first, and it captured my heart. I couldn't put it down. The Pilot's Wife was my next one and it was equally as amazing.
My suggestion would be anything by her, especially "When or Where". (I've got it on my shelf and just haven't gotten around to reading it yet!)
Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella
Love Walked in - Maris De Los Santos
Memory Keepers Daughter
Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner
Good Night Nobody - Jennifer Weiner
@ soonerpsych -- I LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!!! She's a local author here (she lives a town away and taught @ Amherst College) The first book I read by her was "The Wedding" and I was addicted after that!! And I can never put them down so I usually end up reading them in a day or two!!
@ Roddybride09 -- Jennifer Weiner is wonderful too!
Everyone: Not sure if anyone would be interested BUT "The Wedding' Nicholas Sparks is a tear jerker!! I think its the follow-up to the Notebook -- I cried through some of it and have never done that before.
@MrsJKH2be - You are absolutely right about "The Wedding". It is such a beautiful story. You know I can't say that I haven't at least shed a tear for each and every one of NS's books. He's damn good :)
Has anyone read The Choice (I think that is what it is called) by Nicholas Sparks? It is in the bargain section at Barnes and Noble. I wasn't suggesting it for March, since we just read a N.S. book. I was just wondering if it was worth picking up?
I agree that we should definitely read a different author, even though I LOVE Nicholas Sparks. I haven't read anything I didn't like by him, so @heathaah, I would pick it up. Although, that's just me...
My suggestion for this month would be The Borgia Bride by Jeanne Kalogridis.
Great suggestions ladies!
Personally, I would rather choose a lighter read. For me, reading is a way to get away from the real world and lets me enjoy something without thinking. I'm not a fan of "deep" books. I'm secure enough to admit I'm that shallow! :)
I'll keep taking suggestions and do a poll later in the week.
I've heard Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah is a good one.
Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult.
The Pact by Jodi Picoult.
Can't wait to start March's book :]
@Heathaah - I agree with Angela. Anything by NS is worth reading. I have read I believe 6 of his books and all were great.
@Candy_Nee - I second lighter reads.
Okay fellow bees, so I'm getting a no go on the "deeper" reads. I'm cool with that. I'll keep an eye on what you gals select for books, and join if if the reading looks good.
Hello ladies---I have been waiting to join a book club. Mind if I join?
I missed the February book club because I couldn't get the book in time but cannot wait to see the March choice!
@ heathaah--Thanks! One of my girlfriends just finished reading "The Choice" and said it was a great read.
oooooh i can't wait for march's book!!
"The Courage Tree" by Diane Chamberlain!!!!
ANYTHING by Jodi Picoult
i think if we read "the wedding" (whenever) we should definitely read "the notebook" first (:
@heathaah - ive read the choice! i loved it and i would definitely read it again!
Candy_Nee is hosting March's discussion, etc. I think she's going to set up a poll this week, then we all vote.
@Candy, should we start the poll today so we have a couple days to vote, then can buy the book to start by Monday?
:)
I second Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah.
It's a beautiful story of two friends that are like sisters. Growing up, life's hardships. etc. It's a beautiful story about "sisterly" love. I was thisclose to crying.
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this! I've been in a class for work the past 2 days, and my evenings are just as hectic!
The poll will be up in a few minutes!

Hi Ladies!
Ok, I'm looking for some suggestions on March's book club choice. Do we want to narrow down a genre or just pick from a list of books? Any input is much appreciated!
I'm out of town (first dress fitting and a shower - YAY!!!!!) all weekend, so I may not be able to check back till Monday.
Thanks!!
