Ok, due to a limited number of responses (despite me having spaced putting up this post on time due to my MOH calling and chatting while I baked cupcakes and cut my origami paper) I'm adding a few books to the list that I have laying around. Please pick your top two choices and hopefully we can get to reading. I also propose we meet/discuss the week of the 14th and the 26th, but if anyone would like to change that let me know.

I am convinced that nobody suggests books, but everyone likes a poll and there will be A TON of votes. :) i like the dates for discussion...i think 2 checkins works a lot better. Thanks for moderating!

I've read The Giver, but that was like, 10 years ago, and I just read Snow FLower and the Secret Fan a few weeks ago.

It's only okay. I mean, it's a girly mushy snuggly kind of book. All about friendship and then some stupid miscommunication on their fan threatens to tear them apart.

I think one of the other books would be better for discussion. It's a very simple book...very straightforward.

The Giver is truly a "discussion" book club type of book, if you're looking to talk about metaphors and underlying themes. It's definitely a classic =]

@Mrs. Menard To Be No problem. I might as well take my turn at it anyway.

I haven't read The Giver yet, it's just been sitting around the house since we bought it (and a bunch of other books) last year while we were living in Portland. I haven't heard of the first four at all, but I'm sure they are good. Please keep voting. I'll check back in here tonight and whichever book gets chosen, just read to about the middle point by the 14th.

Ok, so the book for the month is The Giver. Read to chapter 12 by the 14th. Hope to have some great discussions about this one!
