All the current girls lets introduce ourselves and wake up this board!

I want to hear everyones ideas!

Your venue? What photograhers and cake bakers you are debating between.  And your colors and inspirations of course!!

I love getting ideas from other local girls.

I will be having my wedding at the same place as Mrs. Buttons!  Carlouel Yacht Club - my parents had their reception there 28 years ago!  I'm trying to DIY as much as possible mainly because I have a lot of time on my hands (If you have any marketing job contacts let me know!)  My colors are going to be navy and blush pink with nautical accents.  I have all these ideas in my head I hope they all work well together!

Thanks for starting this, we need to living up this place Cool

We just started to plan, but we are about to book our venue, the biggie!! It's a very nice location, Venitian Country club in Venice. I want it to be close to home, and we have guest from everywhere, but majority are locals.

I'm not set on colors yet, so i'm not sure what I'm going to do. We will be married in September, so may be fall theme, something vintage perhaps.

We have met with our photographer and we just love her, we can't wait for our e-pics to be taken this weekend. She is a dog person, so that's right up our alley, and her photos are awesome! We will be using pictures for STDs and guest book.

As for cakes, i'm not even thinking about it yet, neither flowers, i don't think they are on our priority list as of yet. We did look at couple of DJs, have not talked to any yet, but we probably should start moving. Have any of you had any experience with these guys:

    1. Chill Will DJ services

    2. George the DJ

I've heard and seen reviews for both, and they all sounds just fun, so i will be making some phone calls and setting up meetings.

We probably wont have  a video, though i'm not quiet sure 100%

I did put my eyes on the dress, I'm queit small/pettite, so i didn't want anything puffy, but more slim. What do you guys think of this one:

You have got a lot figured out for a wedding that is over a year away! Good for you!  We just keep putting things off!

I'm not familiar with your DJs, I assume they are probably from down in Venice?

We want to do a band and dj possibly (if it's not SUPER expensive)

The back of that dress is really pretty! Who makes it?  I randomly went shopping with my mom one day and we stopped by a store that was having a sample sale that week and I bought my dress.  I got it for a steal and it doesn't need any alterations.  It is safely put away at my grandma's house. It's made by 2be here is a link to it http://2bebride.com/item/?i=E233866&collection=2be%20-%20Bridal%20-%20Elizabeth%20Darcy . Now I need to find a veil to go with it.  I want lace around the edge but I don't like the one she has on in the picture.

LRin, i spotted this picture on Sarasota Brides website

    http://www.sarasotabrides.com/

I am yet to make a trip there and see what they have on hand, and if this dress is available to try it on.

Both DJs are down south, so probably more known down in South Florida then here.

That dress of yours is gorgeous, I'm not big on embroidery, but it does look very pretty!!

I LOVE your inspiration boards!! I will have to bookmark your page to come back and check them out!

I have a lot to do as well! Yesterday we meet with the club to try and get some plans in order.  Now we know about how many tables we will be having and FI and I are trying to come up with some menu ideas.  We are doing tasting stations and so far we for sure are doing an All American - sliders, chicken fingers, fries, mac and cheese, and probably some fruit salad.  Maybe a Greek station with pita triangles, gyro meat, Greek salad.  Trying to decide between Mexican or Cuban/Spanishy now with either a quesadilla station and taco salad or Cuban sandwiches, black beans and rice, maybe some chicken or pork.  And then one more station want to incorporate some meat and seafood too!!

    Hey! Sarasota bride here!

My wedding is actually in Bradenton at the South FL Museum.

Caterer: Simply Gourmet. (We shopped around A LOT)

    Photo: Jason Angelini

    Video: Bill Wagy

Dress: purchased in Tallahassee, but I liked Le Mariee in SRQ. My SIL got hers from Sarasota Brides and was happy.

ANYONE DO A CAKE TASTING YET???

MindyLou, who is  Bill Wagy and how much does he charge for video? I thought of not having video but also i'm reconsidering, it will all depend on the price and if it fits within our budget.

I was looking at Jason and sent him email, we didn't need the whole day service, but he wouldn't discount, and with everything else it would cost too much money. We did find our photographer and quiet happy! We did our epix and i actually posted a link under photo's tab, but here it is again

    http://intruecolors.com/blog/?cat=16

I've never heard of Le Mariee, i stopped at Sarasota brides but for some reason i couldn't find anything i liked.

We did book our DJ, we went with Chill-Will services, he's such a nice guy :)

I will be working on save the dates and invitations, just have to pic a picture to go with it, probably will order from Vista.

No cake tasting yet, i think it's too early for us, my photog recommended one, so we will see.

Hey everyone! I haven't posted here in a while. Nice to see other brides from FL.

We are getting married on Longboat key beach at one of our relatives houses.  We don't know if we should do our own cooking or hire a caterer? Can anyone recomend a caterer that might be good and not too expensive? We're thinking to get a cake from Publix. Have not decided on flowers yet, i wanted to check out Naked florist, they just opened up a store here, I'm intrigued by the name :) We will go and check out Flower Girls of Sarasota and Elegant design studio. Anyone had any experience with any of those? All i really need is a buquiet for myself and I only have 2 BMS, i don't know if i need buquets for them.

No video or DJ, but we have an awesome photographer that we booked a while back! I keep snooping on her blog, and just saw her new post from a beach wedding, it's awesome, i can't wait!! If you girls looking for a photog, she's great, funny and very flixible, quoted us an awesome price for a full day. Check her out

    www.intruecolors.com/blog

Well, the only thing i don't have yet is my dress, i keep watching Say yes to the Dress, and i'm drooling over some of them. I really need to get going with it.

Our invitations are out, and we so far have 35 people responded with YES!! We are expecting no more then 50, that would be the top.

Hope everyone else is doing good. Keep this board going!!

Anna Maria is nice, Beach House is very popular for weddings, right on the beach. You can have your ceremony and reception at the same spot.

@LRin2011: Oh awesome! Carlouel was fabulous (but I'm sure you already know that since your parents had their reception there! How cool is that, by the way?)...wouldn't change our venue for the world. We did a Kobe slider station during the cocktail hour and it was a huge hit. Also - they have a HUGE wok that they can bring out for a tasting station: we had them make fresh stir fry with either chicken, pork, or shrimp as the protein. Yum. Everyone was also loving the grilled lamb chops. However, the biggest hit for us in a dinner station was the chilean sea bass with chimichurri sauce and julienne vegetables. It was one of my personal requests, since I absolutely love Chilean sea bass...and guests kept going back for seconds of it. I wish I would have managed to snag a second piece myself!

@msbuttons: I'm so excited!! Carlouel has such great food!  So far the only food we are having for sure is tomato soup shooters with grilled cheese (I don't know if you have had their grilled cheese, but I lived on it as a child) and a slider station at the outside grill.  Did you use an outside wedding coordinator at all?  Chuck and Kendall are great but we are having a pretty big wedding and need someone extra I think.  I am meeting with someone tomorrow, but I am open to all suggestions!

So girls how is everyones planning coming?!

We took our engagement pictures yesterday and I'm nervous about how they came out because it was so hot! My hair was a complete mess by the time we were done.

@KrystalS: Haha whenever people ask me how wedding planning is going my response is always its going...

I need to take care of hotel block. Your getting married on the beach right? Clearwater? Are you using a beach hotel for your block, if so which one?

I think I'm going to call the Sheraton Sand Key and Hilton Clearwater Beach

@LRin2011: I picked the Quality Inn -- it's next to Shephard's. It was cheap, they offered us a free room, and our favorite dive-y tiki bar is there! :)

@LRin2011: We booked rooms at the Residence Inn in downtown Clearwater...its not right on the beach obviously, but the rooms were so so so much nicer for a cheaper price than the on-beach locations. There were the King suites or two bedroom suites (each with private bathrooms and separating doors for privacy)...they ran about $90-110 depending on the size of the room. They are equipped with a full size refrigerator in each room, as well as a stove/dishwasher/etc...which was really nice for storing the pre-wedding food and drinks! For the wedding, we rented the Jolley Trolley out for a few hours...it ran two trips before the wedding, and one at the end of the reception to run everyone back to the hotel.
