We are at a year ladies! How are we coming along. We changed everything so starting over here! But loving it!
I'm so excited! My colors have changed over and over and I'm still tempted to change them again, but I'm sticking to our chartreuse and plum (for now.) We were engaged 12/25/07, so this is an exciting marker in our timeline!
Yayy!!! I'm at the end of May but still...it's soo close! I kind of took a break after buying my dress back in March. It's probably time to start back up, though. We have a lot of the big stuff: venue, photog, dj, dress. Hopefully well do our engagement pics sometime this summer so we can send our STDs by Sept. When are you girls planning on sending them out? Is Sept too early, ya think??
Love that you posted this! May 1st really made everything feel real! :) Not that it didn't before, but I'm sure you know what I mean. We actually have a lot done already: Venue, chair covers, flowers, JP, DJ, invitations, and some other little details. The big things we have left are my dress, BM's dresses, tuxes for the guys, photographer and then of course putting everything together (including a million DIY projects!). So yeah, I feel pretty good about it all! Kind of just want the day to be here, but I'm sure this year will go by fast. As for your question EAQ219....I'm planning on sending out my STDs around November 1st...which is about six months out. You think I should send them out earlier? What is everyone else doing?? What colors are you ladies having? Mine are pink and green. Yay for May brides!! We should definitely keep this post going!!
By the way, what's everyone's wedding date? Ours is Saturday, May 22nd. Anyone else?? :)

Yayy mine is May 22!!! So you're doing them in November...hmm. Now I'm rethinking it. Oct or Nov seems a little more reasonable I guess. I think my problem is that I'm so excited that I just want to do everything RIGHTNOW.
Ack! So hard to believe--then again, my date is May 30, so almost June, but it still feels real.
We are sending our save the dates in early October--a bit early, but we're almost a destination wedding, so we want people to be able to start planning. We're getting married in DC over Memorial Day weekend, so we want people to be able to make a vacation out of it.
I've gotten a good deal done already: venue, caterer, photographer, picked colors (red and turquoise), dress (I think!), started working on the ceremony, contacted a couple officiants, plus some other little stuff. Getting SO many DIY project ideas on here too!
I wish you ladies the best of luck--and ask an important question...how's your FI dealing with this? Is he interested or completely apathetic? Mine wavers, according to the day!
May 28th here! We might be crazy to have a friday night wedding, but it gives us a long weekend to recuperate and cheaper prices on things like the venue, photog and other things...
I was thinking about sending out my "definites" this memorial day weekend, since a lot of our family vacations on that weekend and they plan it in advance. Do you think that's too soon?? I would only send them this early to the family that would definitely be there.
What are your colors?

I know what you mean EAQ219! I am super excited about everything too! I'm sure I'll have to really restrain from sending out my STDS earlier! Once I get them, I'll want to send them out that day!! We're waiting on sending ours out because most of our guests will only be travelling locally, and already have our date on their calendars anyway (I hope!). If we had a lot of people coming from far distances (like some of you girls!), then I would DEFINITELY send them out earlier! Oh, and yay for May 22nd! :) As for your post UrbanLeo, I have to say that my FI has been really great when it comes to everything wedding related. I've watched so many of my friends deal with uninterested fiances, so I feel pretty lucky about the fact that my guy has been so involved. We'll see what happens as the wedding date gets closer!! CEO528, I think Friday night weddings are great...especially since you're doing it on a long weekend. We would have gone with a Friday night wedding, but the 22nd is a Saturday and I don't know...we just liked that date for some reason, dont ask me why :) Sicnce you're getting married Memorial Day weekend, I would DEFINITELY send out my STDs super early...and no, I really don't think this Memorial Day is too soon. Go for it! Our colors are pink and green....I wanted a color combo that was springy and fun...plus, my favorite color is pink and my FI's is green...so that's even better :) How about you ladies? What are everyone else's colors??

CEO528--I'm taking advantage of the long weekend too, just on the opposite end. We're getting married on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend! So nice to be getting things for even a little bit cheaper...
Hey all you May 2010 brides! Question for you...when are you ordering your wedding dresses? What do you think is the last possible date it would be okay to order a dress to have enough time to get it ready for a May 22 wedding?? I'm holding off, because I'm really trying to lose as much weight as possible before I order it. What do you think??
Hi - I'm May 30, 2010 too! So far, we've picked our venue, photographer, videographer, band, working on flowers and STDs, and I did some preliminary dress shopping yesterday!! I was also trying to figure out when to send out the save the dates. Once I complete them I'm sure I'll want to send them out ASAP!
@Maybee- I'd definitely order your dress about 6-8 months out at the latest. That will give you the maximum amount of time to lose some weight and still have a dress there in time for your wedding and tailored and everything!
@wheresmydessert- wow, you're ahead of me! I just ordered some paper samples to test out my save the dates ideas, I will probably have mine out in late may or early june at this rate!
Yay! I'm happy to read that at least a few May 2010 brides have already booked things. I'm meeting with a possible officiant next Monday, and I was thinking that it may be strange of me to pay someone in full (she comes highly recommended) to reserve her for a day not yet a year in advance.
My date is May 15th. I already have my venue, my photographer and cake people (both friends), and my invitation-making supplies. I feel like that I have to decide on a florist and whether we'd want a videographer or DJ soon, so that I can finally stop worrying about the availability of vendors.
My FI is pushing me to set up our website. Once I have this, I can email our STDs, which I want to send out soon to give our OOT relatives enough notice to save up traveling money. My FI is willing to help out however he can, but I suspect he'd prefer manual work. I'm still stuck contacting vendors. We're both shy.
@MayBee My married friend informed me that it may take several months for a dress on order to arrive and some more to have alterations done. Skimming some online resources, I found that the usual advice is to order at least 6 months ahead to reduce the need to have "rush" services.

The FI and I are also going for our fave colours as our wedding colours: red and blue. I'm thinking of keeping the actual shades flexible and having an accent colour or two to help get the overall look become more "spring-like" while still being "us".
Yay! We are 99% sure we are keeping 5-15-10 as our date, finally a year out!

We still need to work on our transportation,chair covers(but i know where i am getting them from),flowers,invites,center pireces and other small stuff but just about all of our big stuff is booked or done. I am having such a hard time just relaxing from day to day without doing something pertaining to the wedding
..anyone else like this? We are planning a camping trip 2 weeks from now and i am going to TRY to relax and not worrie about the wedding what so ever!!
Yay May 2010 weddings! I'm so glad to have an entire year left to plan-- but that doesn't stop me from stalking this website and thinking about all the details! So far we've booked our venue, designed our cake, picked a DJ, and put down deposits for the photographer and videographer. We're also talking about a candy buffet with those personalized M&M's and other stuff.
The one part I want to plan the most- the honeymoon- is going to have to wait! FH is deploying in Sept 2010, but the other units dates have been moved up by 3-4 months, so if that happens to him, he'll be gone shortly after the wedding.
Any other dual military couples out there? Any advice for planning a honeymoon while waiting for orders?
WOW Ladies! I know what you mean about hitting a year and making it feel like so much more real.
But I must confess you ladies have so much more done then we do. We have a photographer which is Mrs. Avocado, colors, and the invitations in the design stages. Not much! Ugh. I really need to get things moving!

I know how you feel, Teresainpa, about trying to relax. Everything is plan, plan, planning. I'm slowly driving the FI insane with my fret, fret, fretting.

Mine is on May 30, 2010! So far I got my dress :), booked a venue, photog and sending out my deposit for my DJ. I have a friend working on invite designs based on my inspiration sheet I sent her. My colors are navy blue, yellow and some orange! :)
Next on my list is an officiant and a florist. The girls and I are looking at BM dresses in July.

I am also a Friday night wedding... May 21, 2010. I feel so behind reading all your posts. We have our photographer and are getting engagement pictures taken June 19th. We wanted them taken as close to the same time of year as the wedding. We have the church and officiant. We have a handful of reception venues but haven't decided. Have all of you decided on your wedding party and asked them?
I'm so glad to find other May 2010 brides! May 22! We have the venue booked, my dress is in the process of being made and the beginning of the invites and small stuff bought. I'm having trouble with the photographer and DJ though everyone we contact says it's still too early for them. What is with that? I'm sorry I gave myself plently of time to plan. I'm going to into my final year of college and getting married three weeks after I graduate and trying to get as much as I can done this summer.
Hi everyone! This is my frist post! I'm May 30, 2010 too! We have the venue and the photographer! I'm having a lot fun trying on dresses but I feel like I'll never be able to make a decision until I "need" to for timing purposes!
Happy pre-annivesary (is that the right way to put it? haha) to all May 2010 brides! I just made my 2nd set of dress appointments, so I'll be celebrating on my 1 year-to-go date by trying on dresses. 
Now trying to figure out where/when to do our engagement shoot - we have several options. If you have a minute - please submit your vote on my poll!! THANKS in advance! 
@Cable2Be yes, I asked my wedding party (except for the flower girl) - I was so relieved to get that done!
Leo-- those are my colors too! (minus the orange accents- mine will be earthy brown). I love those colors! I'm very excited :)
Hey May 2010-ers!! So today my the 1 year pre-versary (or whatever we're calling it these days)!! FI is at a bachelor party all weekend :( so I'm left to fend for myself AND celebrate the 1-year-away mark alone. But what showed up on my doorstep today?? FLOWERS!!! Remember, he's not even in this STATE, he left for Kentucky last night. He never ceases to surprise me. I'll leave you with a pic! Sorry to be so gushy, I just feel like I can share it with you ladies :)

I can't wait! I'm so excited that I'm planning everything this Summer! I'm a teacher, so during the school year is tough to get stuff done. Plus, who wants to do a food tasting during February!?
Question for you girls....how far in advance are you reserving blocks of hotel rooms?? NO CLUE when I need to do that!!
Oooh good question MayBee. Honestly, I have no idea either. We're date twins :) Is Manchester, NH a big city? I'm from Cleveland which could be considered a "big city" but I'd call it moderately sized compared to like NYC or Chicago. I think if you're in a big city it's best to do it kind of far in advance. I think it also depends on how many people you think will stay which of course means finalizing the guest list which makes me hyperventilate. Are you going to visit the hotel before you book the rooms and do you think you'll stay at the same hotel as your guests for your wedding night? Aaahhh so many freaking questions/details to think about!
Yay Natakie16, we'll have the same day! So far we've got the venue, I've got a dress (!), and we're close to signing contracts with the photographer, florist, and our caterer. Is anyone else a list-maker? I love the idea of getting things done early and then having time to chill out (and then freak out again!)
@EAQ219....yay for May 22nd!! :) By the way, I think it's adorable that your sweetie bought you pre-anniversary flowers...that is so sweet! My honey and I celebrated the day too! You were 100% right when you said that there are "so many freaking questions/details to think about"! Amen sister! I NEVER had any idea how many tiny little details go in to planning a wedding! I appreciate the weddings I go to now like never before! :) As for the hotels....Manchester is a decently sized city (at least for NH!), but we're actually getting married in Derry, which is much smaller. Problem being that there are really no hotels right near our venue...so we're gonna look for hotels in Salem, NH...hopefully they won't be more than ten minutes away. I don't think we're gonna stay at each hotel, but we're definitely gonna go to each and walk around and talk with the person in charge, etc. to make sure that our guests would feel comfortable. I would like to stay the night in a couple of them to see what they're like...but can't justify spending the extra money when we have the wedding itself to pay for :) Have you booked yours since your last post? I'm thinking about trying to get that taken care of by the end of the month, or at the latest by the end of July. Have you bought your wedding dress yet?? Just figured out what we're doing for bridesmaid dresses (really only needed to pick a color and designer, since I'm letting the girls pick their own dress)...so another biggie on my to do list is buying THE dress. Why am I not as excited about that as I should be??? Probably because I would like to be carrying a little less baggage in the weight department before I order my dress :) After that, I really just need to order my place card holders...and then, we're pretty much set! I mean, I have a million things to DIY...but by that point, everything will be ordered/booked, etc. How's planning going for you?? So excited that we share the same date!!!

Hahaha @MayBee! You're so excited it seems! No, I haven't done the hotel yet. I did hire a DOC though and she told me to book the hotels basically asap. Ugh. Looks like I'll be doing some research.
Yes, I have my dress. Actually I ordered it back in March and it came in last week. You could say I'm uh...ahead of the game lol. Definitely at least start looking. Go to a store or two, try on a few things. At least then you'll know what you like/don't like.
@German: looks like May 22, 2010 is a popular day!! The 11 month mark is coming up in less than 1 week!!

Yay for May Bees!!! i am also anxiously awaiting the 22nd! We had a -1 year wedding anniversary celebration.
Although sometimes it feels like it is too far away, this last week I freaked out, because I felt like a didn't have enough time to make everything PERFECT!
I am going dress shopping this week! YAY!
@Angeleri2bee-I know exactly what you mean about the freak out. I'll be finishing my last semester of college (except for student teaching) 2 weeks before the 22nd and my biggest fear is that I won't have everything together! Good luck with your dress shopping!
@MayBee and EAQ219- My wedding is also the 22nd. I'm not even sure of how to approach the only hotel in my hometown about reserving a block. It only has 28 rooms so I'm afraid it won't be enough for our 150+ guest list (more than half coming from out of town). But I think I'll make some phone calls in the very near future!
Less than a year! Sooo excited! May 23rd Wedding here! I've got my dress, picked out bm dresses, got a location, coordinator, photog, videog, officiant, cake baker, dj, florist, caterer, diy invitation design done. At this rate i'll be done with everything 6 mos. prior to the wedding!!! Yay!!! After that it'll just be printing the paper products, small details, logistics, and gathering decor before the big day!
Just a little over ten months to go!!!!!! Exciting...but YIKES!!! SO...MUCH...TO...DO :) Good thing there's a lot of time left! What is everyone doing for their colors? Mine are a lime green and a bright pink....sounds a little much, I know...but they really look pretty together! What are you ladies doing??
