I have been waiting for almost a year now to get my new engagement ring. When DH got the original, it was a diamond because he wanted to get a clear stone (due to pressure from our family). He knows that is very unlike me, so he and I have finally picked out what will be my new engagement ring!
It’s a blueberry sapphire from the Edwardian era with 10 old mine cut diamonds in a daisy pattern (which DH said is very ‘me’) in platinum!
Obligatory ring pics: 😉
We are buying it tomorrow morning and I could not be more excited!
I am having trouble deciding on what I’ll do for a band now, though. I originally wanted a ring that could be worn with a plain, straight band- but when I saw this ring I fell in love. I suppose I could have a custom made band…but I was considering buying a plain band and wearing it on the right hand with the sapphire ring on the left. What does the Bee think I should do?
I found this band on ebay, but I won’t know if it fits the ring or not unless I buy it:

Wow, what a gorgeous stone! Congrats on your new soon-to-be sparkler. Post more IRL pics when you get it? 🙂
ETA: Sorry, I got so excited about the ring I forgot about the question :-p if it were me, I think I would move it to my right hand, as you suggested. Personally I think a band of any kind stacked with this ring would just be a distraction.

@stefanielovesjamie: Your ring is lovely, congratulations 🙂 gosh I don’t know what to do with the band, are you dead set on having one? It’s so pretty on its own.

@Heloise: I thought the same thing- I definitely don’t want to distract from the ring itself since it’s so beautiful. I’ll probably get a plain platinum band (maybe with a scroll design) to wear on my right hand. Thanks for answering! And don’t worry, I’ll definitely post IRL pics- I lurk these boards constantly for ring pics, lol.

@jennmariee: I won’t actually be getting a band for at least a month anyway, so it’s not important to have one. If I do get one, I may wear it on the right hand. I definitely don’t want to draw attention away from the ring itself.

It’s gorgeous, I love it!! :]

So great you’re getting a ring that’s really “you”. Your fiance rocks 😉
Love the floral design, and I do love that band from Ebay. Too bad you can’t try it with your ring before buying.
I have a custom-made contour band for my floral ring. I didn’t want a tight contour band that wraps perfectly, I wanted a gap between the two 😉 The jeweler did an amazing job!

Please, please get those prongs checked- in the first pic at 1 o’clock there appears to be a problem with the prong?
Could just be an issue with the pic, but better safe than sorry.

I really love your new blueberry pretty! I love Sapphires!!! Such a gorgeous ring.
I agree with pp, one of the prongs isn’t quite right. Please get it checked. 🙂
